Punch nazis, trebuchet TERFs.

I am building Voyager, a client for lemmy!

I mainly post under @aeharding now.

But hey, at least everyone supports webp now. (lemmy.world)

Context: Even though Chromium has native support for AVIF, a very nice image format, Microsoft goes out of their way to remove it from Edge, which is a chromium fork. Jpeg XL (JXL) (not to be confused with Jpeg (JPG) or Jpeg 2000 (jpg2k) ) is another nice image format, which, IIRC, is only supported in Firefox.

JXL. Better compression in my testing and better quality. Also very flexible format with JPEG compatibility

Mowing and shoveling is standard lease stuff where I live.

(But not things like clearing gutters or worrying about ice dams)

The latest Voyager also allows you to customize when the long swipe trigger point is now! Settings -> Gestures -> Long Swipe Trigger Point

If there’s no @, it’s local.

Could probably add an option to configure. The idea to not include the instance url if local was to cut down on noise in the UI.

I had no idea that you could download movies from the 90ies from archive.org (jeena.net)

I couldn’t find the Flintstones movie from 1994 anywhere but googling it I found it here archive.org/details/the-flintstones_202304 and you can either download it via torrent or directly. On top of it it says that the movie is CC0 which means Public Domain. But that can’t really be, it’s only 29 years old....

Sure it can. A large vehicle is more likely to kill someone outside of the car. So, by unnecessarily choosing to purchase a large vehicle, you are needlessly increasing the chance of killing someone else.

Not to mention the climate impacts.

To be clear, the fact that you want a pick up truck can’t be debated, but whether you should be allowed to purchase one and use it on a public roadway, solely because of your desire to have one- is another thing.

Lately Sweet & Spicy, otherwise lemon ginger is nice. :)

I like mint but only rarely do I crave it.

Certain apps like Voyager support, but not natively supported in Lemmy yet.

Personally maybe with some better art, not with the plain mouse logo

I’m more curious what it will take to get to 1.0, rather than what happens after 1.0.

I think a lemmy roadmap for the next year is hard, because scope and even individual features depend on funding (for example, nlnet funds specific features).

Maybe something like Mastodon’s roadmap would be possible though (with no specific timeline)? joinmastodon.org/roadmap

What does lemmy v1 look like?

aeharding, (edited )
@aeharding@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, tbh the worst vendor lock-in part of Github (edit: other than the aformentioned social aspect) is Github Releases. And Lemmy doesn’t really use them.

@aeharding@lemmy.world avatar

Huh. I didn’t know those were from Germany. We have them in USA too, just not as common I suppose.

Be careful when you punch a fascist. You might hurt your hand/wrist. Best to read up ahead of time.
