Seriously this was very surprising. I’ve been experimenting with GrayJay since it was announced and I largely think it’s a pretty sweet app. I know there are concerns over how it isn’t “true open source” but it’s a hell of a lot more open than ReVanced. Plus, I like the general design and philosophy of the app....
I think I might cancel. I’m not watching ads and I’m not going to pay the extra $3/mo to opt out. I don’t know if I’d end up paying more than the subscription cost in shipping though…...
But it’s not complely free shipping. It’s $140/year free shipping. So depending on how often you need something tomorrow, you could come out ahead even without Prime. That’s what I’m weighing now. Streaming is close to a solved problem, it’s the shipping I’m on the fence about.
Same, I have a handful of streaming services (mostly split with other households) because it’s easier to watch something right now than in 10 mins at the absolute minimum, or tomorrow, depending on the current status of high seas shipping lanes. But I’m not fucking watching ads. I’m paying for the service, fuck your ads.
I just wish they’d split off streaming from shipping.
In the last couple of months I have noticed an increasing trend of supplying me search results that are completely unrelated to the current query and tie back to my location or previous searches. I can say this with a high degree of certainty this is without a doubt beyond the 100th instance this has happened....

Well what are we tolling? Square footage? Noise? Carbon emissions? Deaths and injuries? Yes. Motorcycles are better in some categories and worse in others
I am trying to finally move from entirely depending on Google Photos to a proper backup strategy. I have my photos and videos downloaded from Google which are a mess right now but as long they’re with me I am fine, at least for now....
I self host with Synology Photos, pay for extra Google Photos storage, and just today started using Proton Drive, but Proton will just be for whatever is on my phone today and moving forward. The other two have my entire library.
I use Authy and am logged in on multiple devices so if I lose my phone I can still access the 2FA on my laptop. Then log back into the new phone using the laptop.

Ok I have a question. I’m kinda a noob when it comes to privacy. I’ll follow the guides and do the things to try to minimize ad companies selling my data etc....
So what are the mechanics of this? OP would also have had to interact with Meta somehow after finding the moccasins but before the girlfriend did, right?
I’ve never looked into backing it up. I do know they make it easy to import emails from other services so maybe they’d make it easy to export to other providers too? You’d have to look into it.

Explain setting up a Raspberry Pi to your aunt and have her tell me it’s a low pricw. Let alone lineage os, Jellyfin, Smart tube, and whatever else was in your list. And that solves just casting and steaming. Now do email, messages, browser tracking and fingerprinting, and everything else in our lives… It a lot. And honestly too much.
Same problem, interested in the solutions. Using a combo of Grayjay, like new pipe in which I have to subscribe to channels I already know, and YouTube.com in Firefox with sponsor block, specifically for the recommendation engine.
Louis Rossman/FUTO's YouTube app, GrayJay, now supports Sponsorblock... and shames you if you use it
