This package of bagels I bought expired on a date that doesn't exist. (i.imgur.com)

I originally posted this on the other site back when I took the picture, and it resulted in a lot of confused comments, especially from Americans, eventually getting removed by overzealous mods. Either way, I promise you that this date does not exist, and has never existed.

i'm in the outskirts of bumfuck. there's areas here with maximum dsl speeds under 1 mbit/sec. which the telco naturally sells at a higher price than the 40-60 mbit dsl in other parts of town because it's the only wireline service available in those neighborhoods (cable's ridiculously-priced service is their only competitor otherwise, but they don't cover every part of town)

have several systems and vm (all x64, don't have any sbc here) running dietpi. love it.

saw https://runtipi.io/ posted elsewhere recently. which essentially results in the same thing, but is based on docker.

donkey's brows should have been inverted.. as he would be, of course, 'the vulcan'.

currently cinnamon on mint and manjaro, plus rpi desktop in a couple vm. also use console-only debian and dietpi.

rooted Android phone

that may be the culprit.

iirc, netflix requires the os's drm and browser for 1080p and higher. safari on apple, chrome on android, edge (plus perhaps newer cpu) on windows. third-party browsers (and linux as there is no native os drm) limited to 720p.

we must be due for that to be 'retro' trendy again.

i very much prefer Fkey the default, and i have yet to encounter a user request to change Fkey to Fn.

the worst is the models that have a sleep or airplane mode Fn key right next to the backspace and defaulting from the factory to Fn over Fkey.

the og a&e/nick (when it was a shared channel) used to be what the family room tv was tuned to for 'noise' when no one was watching.

cable is still the cash cow for companies that own content, have networks, and streaming services (comcast, disney, etc), who cannot apparently make a profit off their streaming services. imagine that, selling your content on the open market made more money than locking it all behind your own paywall.

how are you traveling? snakes on a plane; airplane!; speed; planes, trains and automobiles; air force one; pelham 123..., all good 'pre-trip' movies, and each worthy of a re-watch.

i actually burned a cd yesterday.. a boot disk for a utility.

only to find the system i needed it for didn't support legacy boot, and the boot image didn't have uefi support.

i had to take out an audio cd to burn it.. so yea, cd do get used here.. occasionally. probably been a year or more since that audio cd had been played.

the pricing of '365' is essentially a subscription to cloud storage, whether you use it or not, and getting office 'free' with that sub.

one solution would be longer school years (doesn't have to be a 'year-round' calendar) with maybe an hour or hour-and-a-half less class time per day. but that costs more in terms of food service, transportation, building upkeep, and so forth; plus extra child care burden on parents when most families don't have a 'stay at home' parent these days.

you can still get frozen concentrate. but what was once 2 or 3 doors worth of freezer section in the grocery store is now just one or two shelves.

ares35,
@ares35@kbin.social avatar

the higher profit margin "not from concentrate" also exists and is what's advertised more.
