That’s a sharp pun there pal

bobs_monkey, to mildlyinteresting in An "airport neighbourhood" where people can store their planes in their yard and taxi directly to the runway

Here’s one I was thinking of near Ocala, FL, I believe John Travolta has/had a place there:

29.2747779, -82.1204260

And another one in Yucca Valley, CA:

34.1289163, -116.4077455

bobs_monkey, to asklemmy in With the way the world's going, is there even a point to anything anymore?

Indeed, be the change you want to see in the world.

That aside, life does become more bearable when you build up your skillet, make more money, and are able to mesh into the bullshit with a bit more ease, which in turn helps to afford more fun which helps tune out the bullshit. Unfortunately, the assholes have made the game about money, so the sooner one comes to grips with that and starts playing into it a bit, life becomes a little more manageable. It sucks, but it is what it is.

bobs_monkey, to asklemmy in Is it normal for a person to "feel" less as they get older?

Definitely agree. To your point on new things, I still feel that sense of awe and wonder when I go on trips to places I’ve never been, hear an awesome song for the first time, or even learn something new. It takes a certain level of motivation to feel those senses as you age (mid 30s here), and determination to seek those things out. I know I am lucky in that I’m at a stage in life where I have the resources to make some of these happen, but a lot of it is also forcing the free time to both seek out experiences and also be able to appreciate them.

I mean, there’s !memes

bobs_monkey, to RedditMigration in I don’t understand people who say they can’t figure out Lemmy or KBin

Agreed. It still is a pain to follow subs on other instances, especially within Jeroba. I know you're supposed to copy the !sub into the search field, but it never comes up.

bobs_monkey, to asklemmy in How do pre-reddit influx lemmy members feel?

Just couldn't help yourself, eh? Lol

bobs_monkey, to asklemmy in Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?

True, but there's also a lovely Venn diagram where a significant overlap exists. No one's perfect, but a certain mindset definitely leans more towards being a dick to people than not.

bobs_monkey, to asklemmy in Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?

I've seen a few, but they were mostly contained to more random offshoot instances, and those stirring up bullshit were booted pretty quick.

I think the inherent instance ownership gives admins a greater sense of pride to keep their localities positive, and a lot off us are still feeling from what reddit became in the last 5ish years and there's a communal sense of keeping that outta here.

And yes, at least for now. Hopefully those marketing ploys are readily apparent and get kicked to the curb quickly.

bobs_monkey, to asklemmy in Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?

Let's hope it keeps that glimmer!

bobs_monkey, to asklemmy in Hypothetically speaking, if Reddit back tracks on their API plan and meets all of the communities expeditions- would you go back to Reddit?

I remember the Voat semi-exodus, but as I recall that was all the communities that got banned. Voat turned into a cesspool real quick
