can,

Not OP but I think the point is not to force it but just let it happen organically.

Someone had mastadon comments on their blog. Maybe something similar?

Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?

Hi, I am a guy in early thirties with a wife and two kids and whenever I go on youtube it always suggests conservative things like guys dunking on women, ben shapiro reacting to some bullshit, joe rogan, all the works. I almost never allow it to go to that type of video and when I do it is either by accident or by curiosity. My...

can,

Disliking is engagement. Instead tap the three dots and select “not interested”

I feel like /c/memes has taught us a valuable lesson today: Would it make sense to develop a feature to block a comm from our feed for a selectable unit of time (1 hour, 1 day, etc.)?

Even if we’re subscribed to them? Could a temp block exist in conjunction with a subscription? I love c/memes but holy shit no matter which sort I select by they’ve managed to overwhelm my feed.

Timing of upvotes weighs it I believe. If people like your comment not long after it’s made its considered better than getting first vote an hour later.

In true ____ fashion I haven’t verified this myself.

can,

You have more experiences, true, but some things can help you feel like you’re experiencing them for the first time. Any experience with psychedelics?

Does the reddit style format breed toxicity?

Does the reddit style format inherently make for a toxic environment? Or is it a culture of toxicity from the influx of reditors? For lack of a beter example, on stackoverflow, when someone down votes you, it comes with a comment saying how to improve. On mastodon, people can’t downvote you. These platforms are a joy to use,...

  • can,

This is why paying attention to administration views and local laws of an instance are important.

Having a no defederation free for all was not a good idea.

    can,

You should use one of those tools to back up that work to a backup acct somewhere.

The transparency in funding and discussion of donations, the country or state it is hosted in (local laws), does its moderation policy align with your values?

If it’s a small instance fewer communities may be federated already so you may need to be the one to manually search for them for the first time (thus adding them to your instance’s “all” feed). Larger instances will already have many communities discovered and a fuller all feed. Though with lemmyverse.net and some determination you can build up the federated communities list up entirely yourself (and give everyone registered there an expanded “all”).

    can,

Um, if you’re in high school please don’t make nsfw videos.

What are some of the most federated Lemmy instances?

I chose my instance 9 or so months ago purely because it was suggested by the Jerboa app at the time. In lieu of making numerous accounts to access communities that aren’t federated with my instance, I was hoping to make a second account with a very “federated” instance. Any suggestions?...

    can,

Beehaw initially couldn’t handle the influx of unvetted users with 4 admins so they defederated. It was early days. We may be refederated in the future.

    can,

I’m curious, maybe an outdated question. But would you rather a newspaper be formatted like a novel?
