chitak166,

Unfortunately, the “linux-first” vendors do not offer better deals than their competition.

chitak166,

I highly recommend checking out old.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/ daily until you find something that meets your needs and budget.

chitak166,

I highly recommend avoiding this rhetoric because you will end up paying more for inferior hardware.

You are not actually “doing yourself a favor.”

chitak166,

Strawberry.

Our desktops are almost identical, lol.

chitak166,

I’m a firm believer that the vast majority of things we needed for software were implemented by the 2000s.

Usually, people who don’t understand what they’re doing will overcomplicate things to cover-up their misunderstandings. I think choosing a technology before you have a use-case is one of these examples.

chitak166,

No, you see, additional layers of abstraction are always a good thing. Haven’t you been paying attention to the latest software memes? /s

chitak166,

What happened to the notification light?

My Orbic Myra 5G has one, and I got it for free.

chitak166,

Physical buttons in most things are going away whenever companies see they can do it.

It’s weird looking at appliances from decades ago, mostly because it’s clear we are stuck with lower quality where people are willing to concede.

chitak166,

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never complained about regular office keyboards.

The worst keyboard I had was on an Eluktronics laptop because the keys were so hard to press down.

The only real downside I see is that it complicates waterproofing.

It’s also more movable parts.

chitak166, (edited )

I’d recommend Mint or Manjaro for family computers.

Probably Mint, just because Pamac still has issues.

Fedora is a bad choice because you’re stuck in the dnf ecosystem with no real benefit.

I’m a firm believer that the only value in Fedora is for Red Hat. Their shills are the ones who promote it over more practical options.

chitak166,

Eh, I always discredit people when they say X is bad.

It’s been around for over 20 years. That kind of longevity should be praised.

chitak166,

They’ve been working on the same software for 20+ years?

Woah.

chitak166,

No, they need to maximize profit.

🤡

chitak166,

You can stream pretty much anything for free here: fmoviesz.to

Make sure you have Adnauseam or uBlock Origin installed.

chitak166,

Undone is probably the only show worth watching on prime, and you can stream it for free here: fmoviesz.to

chitak166,

Check out Undone. It’s by the same guy who made Bojack Horseman.

chitak166, (edited )

Honestly, everyone subscribing to streaming services gets exactly what they deserve.

You can stream anything for free here: fmoviesz.to

Yet you still choose to waste your money so people richer than you can be even richer.

chitak166,

Soulseek with Nicotine+.

There’s a lossless filter.

chitak166,

That’s a pretty shitty rule, lol.

We should be educating people on how to get stuff for free whenever possible.

chitak166, (edited )

Fedora. Just feels like I’d be moving to the dnf ecosystem for no reason.

chitak166,

You can’t minimize windows in eOS?

WTF?

chitak166,

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. It all makes sense now.

Just another one of gnome’s ridiculous design decisions, lol.

Part of me thinks they’re being paid by Apple and Microsoft just to keep the Linux desktop shit.

chitak166,

Because whatever I’m trying to do doesn’t have a GUI option yet.

chitak166,

Imagine all the work we wouldn’t have to re-do if we had just done it right the first time.

Stallman was right, as usual.
