christophski,

But it’s not a usb stick, it’s an m.2 drive in an enclosure… So your second point doesn’t apply

Good luck web devs (lemmy.world)

Alt text:Twitter post by Daniel Feldman (@d_feldman): Linux is the only major operating system to support diagonal mode (credit [Twitter] @xssfox). christophski,

It’s okay, I’ll hold you at any angle x

christophski,

Command and Conquer forum PPM is still live and kicking nearly 20 years later. My login still works, amazing.

christophski,

Nice! So it completely replaces jackd/qjackctl? Can it sync transports?

christophski,

My audio set up is using jack on Ubuntu. If I were to start using pipewire, does it replace jack? Or do you use it alongside jack? I use mostly ardour, hydrogen, renoise and bitwig.

christophski,

Cool, thanks for the info!

christophski,

Ubuntu. It’s working and I don’t have the time to try out other distros.

Micro***t Word on Linux and alternatives

Are there good Microsoft word alternatives that support Linux (I don’t mind closed source)? Libreoffice is meh and only office is quite good, but are there any better ones? Also, is there a way to install word on Linux using wine? When I do that my laptop just overheats and loses internet connection.

christophski,

Have you tried the different interfaces that libreoffice has? Try switching to their ribbon-like ui and see if it matches what you are looking for.

What exactly are you missing?

christophski,

These low traffic neighbourhoods seem to have lower levels of traffic! More on this later

christophski,

Infrastructure for Internet access on a plane is very expensive and low-bandwidth so this is not surprising

christophski,

Sounds like harmless fun for all the family

Relay for Reddit is continuing as a subscription service (feddit.uk)

Not sure how I feel about this tbh, fair play if that’s what he wants to do. I don’t think it will make me stay with reddit. The community feel of lemmy and kbin is making me finally enjoy contributing again. Towards the end with reddit it felt so… Pointless.

Does anyone else hope the bulk of Reddit stays there?

I think my favorite thing about Lemmy is that it feels like Reddit used to. Less negativity, more engaged users (I think). I know it will be fun to watch Reddit die, but if I put spite aside what I’m really mad at Reddit about is more about what Reddit became and maybe part of that is when the general internet user started...

christophski,

Definitely. It's going to become a mainstream platform like Instagram.

christophski,

An aging population that decided to have no kids so they have no family to help look after them and the countries struggle to provide proper care.
