cricket97,

remember when two highschool students solved a 4000 year old unsolved mathematical proof wfla.com/…/teens-prove-2000-year-old-pythagorean-….

cricket97,

that is a sufficient enough sample size to analyze trends.

cricket97,

because sex and violence are not really comparable

cricket97,

violence is not the same as sex. it’s expected to see violence in an action movie. it would be expected to see sex in a porno. i’m not surprised people don’t want sex in their action movies

cricket97,

oh please you don’t need representation because you don’t want to have sex. that has been a thing for as long as can be and no one has a problem with it. the worst oppression you might face is family members asking you when you will be having a child

cricket97,

There’s a weird online phenomena of people with no knowledge of statistics criticizing the sample size of studies they disagree with. Of course that criticism never comes up when it backs up their world view.

cricket97,

when did i say it takes anything away from me? I’m just saying it’s not particularly important every single minor facet of life needs to shoehorn representation for such a minor thing as not wanting to have sex.

cricket97,

A lot of people like sex to be a private thing. This is not unique to western culture either.

sex needs to be cordoned off to a containment genre

Oh please there’s a difference between porn a movie. People watch porn to jack off, not to enjoy the story.

cricket97,

who is triggered lol just posting my opinion on a discussion forum, take a chill pill

cricket97,

team xecuter made and sold closed source piracy tools for nintendo consoles. they aren’t “right to repair” enthusiasts lol

cricket97,

I don’t know why people are so insistent it’s not a job rather than arguing that it’s a bad job, etc. Small landlords almost certainly put a lot of time into maintaining the property, handling occupancy, reporting income, etc. How is it any less a job than renting out bouncy houses. Sure some landlords might outsource all this, in which case it’s more akin to holding interest bearing assets, but for a small landlord it almost certainly is a job under any definition of the word.

cricket97,

Very controversial statement but really couldn’t be more true. Of course there might be exceptions but most of the time it’s a cushy job where you are paid exorbitant amounts to do practically nothing of value.

cricket97,

Not a bullshit job at all, unless you consider musicians to be a bullshit job too.

cricket97,

health insurance provides a legitimate service to society. not a bullshit job. i get you have political motives to project but it’s not a bullshit job.

cricket97,

not a bullshit job either. being a successful startup founder is one of the most stressful and hard working jobs out there.

cricket97,

They provide plebs access to the complicated world of finance and pass on some of the yield. I think that’s valuable.

cricket97,

Not at all. They are the ones who make markets efficient. Although I would consider frontrunning retail using private order flow data is bullshit.

cricket97,

Nah reddit mods are actually awful. I would tend to agree with you if it were a bunch of random mod teams but reddit is almost entirely controlled by a small group of powermods who get off on flexing their minute amount of power on an internet discussion forum. Truly awful people who contribute nothing to society by taking over small communities so they can use their power to indiscriminately ban people they disagree with.
The only incentive to become a reddit powermod is power.

cricket97,

Is a job a job only if it takes a certain amount of hours a week? dumb comment tbh

But to answer the question my friend who owns 2 properties spends probably anywhere from 10-30 hours a week. He mows the grass, takes trash to the dump, makes repairs himself, etc.

cricket97,

He does not charge extra for those services. Idk what you are on about, I know for a fact maintaining his property takes a decent amount of work. I don’t respect some internet nobody telling me that isn’t true lol. 15 hours is not that much time.

cricket97,

I’m totally fine funding good rehab care. but i’m not willing to continue to fund an addicts addiction with my tax dollars. perhaps make this program require a voluntary admission into a program with reduced freedoms (i.e. can’t leave the campus) until the drug addiction is kicked.

cricket97,

What do you mean when you say “full restriction”? Initially quitting is definitely the hardest part. The temptation to make all your pain go away with a quick trip is too much to bear for many. There’s a reason most detox facilities restrict you from having phones, cash, and don’t let you leave. I think its good for addicts to have temporary restrictions on their freedoms to initially get clean.

cricket97,

What you call punishment I call boundaries. I know a lot of addicts and I’ve seen what worked for those who were able to break the cycle. Knowing that your family will kick you out of the house for instance, is a pretty big deterrent to using drugs. There needs to be some limits somewhere so we aren’t subsidizing life long addiction on tax payer dime.

cricket97,

I would suggest we defer what the middle ground or success factors look like to the people running and studying programs like this

Nah I think i’ll keep having my own opinions instead of blindly trusting “experts”. There is a lot of money in the addiction biz, and you don’t make money off of a recovered addict. I am unwilling to fund someones addiction for their entire life. It’s easy to be a functional addict when everyone else is footing the bill. I don’t think temporary improvement of conditions is indicative of much.
