darcy, to maliciouscompliance in The EU forced Apple to allow users to replace their own batteries, Apple did so by making the process as troublesome for users as possible.

Apple’s philosophy has always been to make things as easy as possible for users, but only if the users agree to pay through the nose. That’s fine, but they also actively stop anyone from trying to do anything outside the limited number of actions they consider acceptable. It’s a good thing the EU is trying to stop that.

Good for you. Some of these board members are retirees who try and get a sense of power from policing rules unnecessarily. I hope I have better things to do with my time when I get old.

Thank you for reading it.

Ah, the classic tale of "Manager calls employee's bluff, loses and panics". Always makes for a good story.

darcy, to maliciouscompliance in Can't go to the bathroom more than once per class? OK, I'll just stand outside the classroom.

We used to look up to our teachers as role models. It is sad what the education system has become.

If only everyone thought like you. I don't mind being treated like I'm invisible, some folks are just busy or tired. But some folks actively spend time and energy trying to be rude.

Thank you, you're too kind.

That is always a good strategy. Eventually some people realise what a fool they're making of themselves. Others get even angrier the nicer you get, sometimes to the point where they can't function properly.

You are a true gem!

darcy, to maliciouscompliance in Follow the expense policy to the letter, he said.

"If yor employees are trying to help you, let them." Sounds like common sense, but it seems like MBAs aren't being taught common sense...

Thank you. I don't usually write such long posts so this means a lot.

Thank you. I tried to make it short and interesting. I've got more stories, maybe I should share those too.

I haven't told this story before, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone else had a similar experience. Hospitality has its fair share of nightmares.
