Yeah I like smart shuffle but again it’s not available on the web player. I wonder why Spotify decided to so heavily cripple the web player. I’m guessing somehow they don’t get as much data out of us that way somehow?
I actually can’t use my phone for Spotify at work because I have to use a specific Bluetooth headset connected to my work computer.
Daylist sounds like an interesting feature. Thanks, I may check it out!
Yeah I use the song radio all the time. Problem is it’s not a true radio but it’s just a pre-made playlist of a certain number of songs. I feel like with Pandora, whenever I started a radio it would morph over time and not just play the same 20 songs on repeat. Maybe I’m misremembering though.
I had always wondered how Loss became such a meme. The comic itself was rather uninspired and lame, and it was odd to me when the internet made it take off…although the memes about it tend to be mildly entertaining. Knowing the context behind it helps a lot.
I dunno. Even Amazon doesn’t seem to have good Black Friday sales anymore. The sale prices are often a lie on their website nowadays when they used to not be. It will say the price is a Black Friday sale price, but really it’s always that price.
Even though sales aren’t as good anymore, at least brick and mortar stores seemed to have stopped the Purge-like frenzy of real life battle royales for products on Black Friday. Everything is much less insane because the deals aren’t as good and the time frame for the deals is longer.
People are always so quick to jump on the “it’s depression” train, but it can also be totally normal for one’s tastes and interests to change over time.
I used to absolutely love games as a kid and teen. But as an adult, I just have a hard time getting into them anymore. I often seem to have fun watching people play games instead of experiencing them myself, and that’s ok too.
It’s like…after a day at work, I just want to unwind. Gaming requires a degree of effort and can even be stress inducing. So I’m just not super into it anymore. I try to get into games now and then but usually I can’t be bothered.
I mean, you’re right that for some people, it can signal depression. For others, it just signals growing older. Such is life.
I like how an annual doctor’s visit and a biannual dental cleaning are supposed to be 100% covered by insurance.
But every time I go, I get a bill later on with the explanation that “the provider is asking for too much money for the services so we are refusing to pay the full amount”. Fuck off. That’s not how that’s supposed to work.
But don’t “swamp cooling” systems like the one in the OP not work well in humid environments? Sure, I have running water at home, but I also live in an incredibly humid climate.
I don’t think the “algorithm”, has to have that nefarious vibe that people think. Lemmy already has sorting algorithms…they are just shit. If they balanced it so that quantity from large communities doesn’t flood out smaller communities, it would be a much better browsing experience. Devs don’t need to mess with the type of content being displayed to us, just tamper down the volume from the larger communities. Reddit was good at doing this.
I was an Ubuntu fan many moons ago. Then I fell in love with Mint when it was just all around a better version of Ubuntu.
Then I ended up with a new Windows laptop for years and forgot about Linux entirely. But this year, I’ve actually returned to Ubuntu. I like how it has a fresh and different look and it still performs well on my now aging laptop. Mint is always my go to recommendation to others, but I just wanted a different look than your standard Windows-like look that Cinnamon has. I was initially turned off way back when, when Ubuntu switched to Unity, but now a difference in look appeals to me. We’ll see if I get annoyed with Snaps or not. So far, everything has been running smoothly.
If there was a GNOME fork of Mint, I’d likely be using that. I get that you can technically install whatever desktop environment in whatever distro you want, but for compatibility sake, it’s best to roll with what your distro comes with.
