doctorcrimson,

Honestly, with the modern political climate, maybe somebody did think out the implications.

doctorcrimson,

Why does the bottom overlap section being empty bother me so much?

doctorcrimson,

The Gold Diggers and Gold-Diggers caught me off guard, that’s funny.

There is actually a lot of nuance to this.

  1. If TTG stops producing content then their rights to the IP can expire, same reason Sony had to make new Spiderman and X-Men films every other year last decade.
  2. Changes in leadership and management to Cartoon Network are frequent and often produce a more straight-cut and less innovative direction for the network, the sort of people that institutional stock holders and WarnerMedia management think are the safe options: data analysts, cost minimizers, tough negotiators.
  3. For the above reason and more, many artists stopped wanting to work with the corporation, and new artists are aware of the issues plaguing the company so they also don’t want to touch it. For example, Rebecca Sugar faced a struggle just to continue Steven Universe, one of their more successful titles, but eventually she was forced to wrap it up and leave. Twice.

I’ve had people pissed off that I didn’t call my mother as Mom, they thought it was DiSResPeCtFUL. She has a name, it’s a respectable name, and when I called that name in a group or a crowd then she will know it’s me without panicking any nearby moms. Get over it, it’s none of your damn business!

doctorcrimson,

Yeah, honestly, when Windows packaged Telemetry data collection it was a controversy but people quickly found out how to disable it.

So basically, it’s a meme originating from Star Trek wherein a species communicates exclusively through idioms and descriptions of events, making it impossible to translate without an understanding of their overall culture and history. Shaka When the Walls Fell probably means failure, it can be translated as “wow” in best case or “this is devastating” in the worst case.

If my Ink Tank Printer suddenly posted SHAKA WHEN THE WALLS FELL then I would be taking a few steps back and grabbing some towels.

doctorcrimson,

Ajit Pai isn’t dead…?

Piece of Shit Pie as the internet usually refers to him, was an office holder in the FCC appointed by then sitting US President Donald Trump in 2017. His most noticeable policy stances included a complete end to Net Neutrality regulations in the USA and to or from abroad, despite previously claiming that he didn’t think the board of unelected members had the authority to dictate it. Once he switched his stance to deregulation it would have had the effect of letting telecommunications companies and other intermediary ISPs decide what content or sources their users have access to: the internet as a whole to all US citizens could have been completely controlled by a small group of companies, their customers potentially seeing only what they want them to see and not having access or freedom to send or receive connections.

I once had a friend who was robbed of all kinds of stuff including a PS3, and that the guy was signed into his Netflix changing account profiles the very same day. I told him he can just get a tracking number by calling Playstation and that the active police officer can use it to track them. Thing is, the officer ghosted him for like 8 months despite having everything they needed to immediately find the exact location of the perpetrator actively using the stolen property.

doctorcrimson,

The USA Public School System notoriously doesn’t care about science or education in general. They’ve been isolated groups of independent small governments held to no national standard since their inception. They usually just prepare kids to blend in with their local community: manerisms, speech patterns, bare minimum math and reading skills.

doctorcrimson,

Definitely everyone. Art is good, reveals are good, the joke density is good with back to back quips and reveals, but for some reason it kind of left me lacking any sense of resolution. Maybe I’ve become jaded from people “ironically” posting conservative hate comics that I now view each new comic I see with a sense of apprehensive doubt.

My problem is the way it’s packaged as a link to a website that hosts the jpeg image. Saving, modifying, and using the image file becomes impossible in some workflows. Imagine a future where you get fined for stealing memes. I bet they could make the image file size even smaller without all of that bullshit added in, until then I’m just using an extension to convert to png (which results in loss btw).

doctorcrimson,

It’s not old at all, it won an art competition a few years ago.

He seems like a keeper. I’ll bet he even insisted on paying for the meal.

My bank started using Quickbooks file format if I want to download a transaction history in a specific date range, what a fucking nightmare. It’s not abandoned yet but nothing except the QuickBooks proprietary software seems to open them so far, only a matter of time. Honestly at this point I might prefer the nightmarish CSV filetype.

doctorcrimson,

When Israel stops bombing Gaza residents indiscriminately I will then consider calling it a war against Hamas.

doctorcrimson,

Coal is actually split into four types

  • Lignite
  • Subbituminous
  • Bituminous
  • Anthracite

And there is also Graphite which is technically different from coal.

doctorcrimson,

You guys should see some of the water physics modders put in Skyrim. They’ve even got some crazy rainstorms.

doctorcrimson,

Maybe if 30% of the population weren’t trying to re-elect one of those people for president it would be easier.
