The lack of content is really bothering me.

Disney plus is the absolute worst there’s nothing on that platform for like 9 months of the year. Then they’ll have an interesting program (usually Star wars related) you can binge and then nothing for another 9 months.

I’m assuming it’s like the Nintendo switch USBC lead which technically is standard but doesn’t really work to charge anything else. but at least you can use normal USBC leads to charge the switch so it’s not too bad.

Wouldn’t you just use a cheap lithium ion battery I’m not sure why you go for a lead acid.

echodot, to asklemmy in If humans went extinct, what would the Earth look like one year later?

It would depend on what the cause of human disappearance was and how quick it was.

The truth is pretty much anything capable of actually rendering humans extinct would probably render most animals extinct humans are far better surviving than most animals are. You talking asteroid impact, solar flare, nuclear war, massive climate change.

Humans can go into shelters, or build mitigation technology. The animals would just die if we didn’t help them.

The only possible way I can imagine that humans would go extinct quickly and not any other life form would be some kind of viral disease outbreak either natural or artificial, but I realistically can’t see something like that wiping out the whole species. You could have a death toll of 10 million people and it wouldn’t even equal 1% of the global population. Especially considering it wouldn’t be 10 million people all from the same area.

Think about all of the things humans have survived and with far inferior technology then anything we have now, ice ages, super volcanoes, global pandemics that keep coming back, hell in the 19th century one of the largest asteroids to hit the world since the extinction of the dinosaurs hit earth and literally no one died or even noticed.

echodot, (edited ) to asklemmy in What is a nifty little feature modern gadgets have lost?

Pixel phones and I believe Samsung phones just light up the OLED display to let you know that there is notification. An independent LED was only necessary because screens would have to light up the whole display to indicate notification, but now we have better screens so that isn’t necessary.

echodot, to asklemmy in So, who or what ruined Christmas this year?

It’s the customer’s responsibility to define the nature of the issue. People in support aren’t magic if you provide no details and then become non-available then that’s a customer problem.

shouldn’t people be supporting efforts for his recovery?

Are they not?

Being sent to a prison hospital, which isn’t great but it’s better than the alternative isn’t it? Some people keep saying that maybe he should be given a job with the CIA or something, and maybe he would have been, but given the fact that he doesn’t seem stable enough to take an olive branch when it’s offered I don’t really think there’s much future for him.

Great and what if a dictatorship takes over and starts looking through historical data. This is a depressingly high possibility in my country.

But even going less extreme than that, what about just draconian surveillance laws. In my country they’ve already tried to ban VPNs fortunately they’re technologically illiterate so they’ve been massively unsuccessful at that one. But what if they grow a collective brain?

Language can evolve all at wants, but Americans are still wrong whenever they say it.

Language has to evolve into something, the Americans seem to be trying to make language evolve away from coherence. You’re probably the type that says using the word literally to mean figuratively is acceptable as well.

I kind of feel like it was chosen for the cool factor. Because there’s no way in the hell that a professional would look at all of the weapons they had on offer and choose that one.

The other thing that never seems to get taken into account is that most of the NRA membership wouldn’t be able to hit the broad side of a barn if it weren’t for the fact that the barn was stationary and not firing back.

They think that proficiency at the shooting range is the same thing as proficiency in combat.
