echodot,

I don’t keep the subscriptions that’s the point.

echodot,

The lack of content is really bothering me.

Disney plus is the absolute worst there’s nothing on that platform for like 9 months of the year. Then they’ll have an interesting program (usually Star wars related) you can binge and then nothing for another 9 months.

echodot,

Wouldn’t you just use a cheap lithium ion battery I’m not sure why you go for a lead acid.

echodot,

Read the whole comment chain, it makes sense.

echodot,

shouldn’t people be supporting efforts for his recovery?

Are they not?

Being sent to a prison hospital, which isn’t great but it’s better than the alternative isn’t it? Some people keep saying that maybe he should be given a job with the CIA or something, and maybe he would have been, but given the fact that he doesn’t seem stable enough to take an olive branch when it’s offered I don’t really think there’s much future for him.

echodot,

It’s the customer’s responsibility to define the nature of the issue. People in support aren’t magic if you provide no details and then become non-available then that’s a customer problem.

The DCEU ends not with a bang, but a wimper. (lemmy.ml)

10 years after Zod’s snapped neck, Martha, “some kinda Suicide Squad”, CGI moustache, rennouncing your wish, the hiearchy of power changing, and Speed Force PS1 graphics, the DC Extended Universe finally comes to a close. And it ends the same way it started - with a Rotten score....

echodot,

Something something science-based with dragons something something.

Secret service agents moments after the 1981 assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan. (lemmy.world)

Excerpt: On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest at the side entrance of the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue by John Hinckley Jr. Reagan was walking to his limousine after a speech to AFL-CIO leaders when Hinckley, 25, who was standing among a group of reporters, fired six shots, hitting Reagan...

If it was a TV show set in the 1980s and it depicted a scene that look like that you’d say it was unrealistic. That is the most 80s photo I’ve ever seen everything about it is so stereotypical of action movies of the time.

I just love the fact that the US secret service used Uzi’s, a weapon that has always been about form over function I know it works, but there are much better options.

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

echodot, (edited )

Really? I could finish it.

Christopher Nolan is a director who is fine when he is sort of contained but if you don’t contain him he tends to go off on random tangents that don’t really lead anywhere and the movie just becomes this kind of incoherent nonsense.

This skit absolutely nails the problem with some of his films

I like Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks but frankly Discovery can get lost. Oh it’s dark and gritty and special magic flying mushroom aliens that kind of break the setting because they can basically teleport you anywhere, they just ruined the canon. Also it’s set in the past why is it set in the past? The show doesn’t need to be in that time. So they could have set it in the future and actually done something interesting with the franchise.

To me it is clear they didn’t want to make a Star Trek show, so why did they slap the franchise name on it? It would have been fine if they just made an original show.

echodot,

simply connect it to a facial recognition database (I understand the UK are quite fond of such)

Yeah but that doesn’t mean they work.

echodot,

Which I think is unique in that it’s the only time in the old one of Star Trek the start sequence was changed.

SNW has done it twice

echodot,

Plex has been kind of bad for a while though in terms of UI being just hard to use.

I don’t actually think it’s even intentional I think it’s just they don’t have anybody on staff who really knows what they’re doing.

echodot,

It’s not really degrading functionality there is it. It’s a feature that no one wants and is annoying and badly thought out but you can turn it off but they haven’t disabled any functionality to add this feature

echodot,

Hopefully Reform split the brainless idiot vote in cause chaos.

echodot,

He also had some oil drilling licenses for sale.

echodot,

A Nokia Ngage , it was a Gameboy phone combo

Last time in my life that I was cool.

echodot,

My position is I’ll pay for it within reason but at some point it’s ridiculous. Like I can’t really be bothered to pay for all of Apple TV just so I can watch For All Mankind it’s not worth it.

echodot,

Were going to find Geordie a girlfriend if it kills us.

echodot,

In the past inflation was seen as a bad thing and destabilizing to an economy so governments put actual effort into making it go down. The easiest way to do that is to keep employee wages in line with inflation, but at some point someone, probably with an R next to their name, decided that that was evil socialism, and so shouldn’t be done.

So now inflation goes up and the government just sits there and goes “oh nothing we can do”.

Tea Earl Gray hot, in a pint glass.

echodot,

The ships can land and take off at least some of them can but they don’t fly around in the atmosphere they just go up and down they’re either on the ground or they’re in space but they can’t really manoeuvre.

Except for that one episode of Voyager where they just kind of forgot about that, but I think that was hand-waved away by saying that they just made the shields into a bubble and so essentially from the air’s perspective the ship was a sphere. That’s apparently what the shuttlecraft do too, which is why they fall like a brick whenever they’re shot down.

echodot,

EA need to make some decent games so I cannot buy their games on principal, rather than not buying their games because I don’t care.

Disney is gouging customers with a near doubling of subscription costs. (sh.itjust.works)

Disney is raking its customers over the coals with a 75% price hike for their annual subscription (originally $80.) People wonder why piracy is on the rise.Multiple commenters are saying I’m off base about the 75% price increase. My payment less than a year ago was $79.99. Here’s the proof.

echodot,

They’ve also said they’re not going to do physical DVD releases anymore.
