flicker,

Back in the dark times when I was an admin for a very popular website, some very hateful nazis were sharing images of a dead Jewish child and laughing and claimed to be literally jerking off to the image. They claimed she was 9.

So yknow. Not in a hurry to see pics. Just want a trusted source to verify that they exist.

flicker,

My initial reaction to this comment was to assume you meant you hated the human for falling for the distraction. I was worried at the generalized dehumanization in general, and how difficult that might make meaningful interaction for you in real life.

But the more I thought about it, the more I thought that hating the news corp and it's almost parasitic need to feed on human attention in order to make money wasn't just what you intended, but an interesting way of looking at it. I've had that thought before but never in a conscious way. So thank you for moving that idea into a place where I can more readily interact with it.

flicker,

I'm glad someone said this here. It feels vile, being forced to do business with these corporations, but I end up getting bulk couscous (which has been scarce even in single bags or boxes in my rural, deep south community) for my autistic stepson who has very specific dietary needs. I can get very specialized disability equipment there, and it's delivered in two days (which is already two days longer than we can afford to wait, sometimes, but we make do.)

Yes, obviously, be ethical everywhere you can, as often as you can, but a blanket "dOnT dO bUsInEsS wItH eViL" is useless, whereas minimizing harm like with tips for links like this one is very helpful.

It's so insanely privileged. Reminds me of the same keyboard warriors who like to "raise awareness" by pouring ice water on themselves and then doing nothing else, feeling smug they did "something" when their only involvement with our causes is posting smug one-liners on the internet, or, of they're feeling particularly "helpful," changing their profile picture to reflect someone else's cause.

flicker,

The first thing I said when invited to Eternity Club was a Groucho Marx quote; I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.

flicker,

Remembering this from Community.

"It's Vietnam!" And he laughed. They had no idea what they were in for.

flicker,

My nightmare of a previous boss called my moissanite engagement ring "cheap" and "trashy," and treated us to a 30-minute speech about how if it's not "real" diamond, it doesn't count.

I hope sucking down those Marlboro blacks takes care of that problem of a woman sooner, rather than later, and in the meantime the gorgeous rainbow sparkle of my pretty ring is made all the more beautiful for the complete lack of child slavery that went into making it!

... I also just realized that horrible harridan didn't have an engagement ring, or even a boyfriend, and now some things make sense.

flicker,

I explained to my cat before his surgery that if he didn't stay a little boy forever, his instincts would drive him to leave home and the life of constant play and treats and being allowed to sleep under the covers with me at night, and he would murder and pillage every creature in the neighborhood and would be an ecological disaster instead of my cute fuzzy boy.

I took his purrs and headbonks as consent. Years later he still seems happy with his lot.

flicker,

I work with disabled adults so the "Biden has mental decline" jokes aren't amusing to me, specifically, and I actually couldn't give a shit about the families of politicians so the Hunter Biden stuff isn't amusing to me, and the "gender lol" stuff is so extremely played out to me...

But I'm open to actual jokes about Democrats. And memes. Do you have any that aren't those? (This is a "you" to the conversation at large.) I'd love to have something to share.

Eta: It's been 2 days so I checked back and the only answers asking for jokes about Democrats have been ignored. I'm disappointed as hell and now I think that the whole "Republicans don't have jokes" narrative is actually true.

Thanks, Obama.
