flooppoolf,

Right now I’m a big nerd for infectious disease but tbh that changes every other three months. :)

flooppoolf,

At first I thought I was reading AI hallucinations talk. Are you saying people used to get whole encyclopedias through rewards programs? And it wasn’t a scam??

flooppoolf,

That sounds really nice. I sometimes wish I could’ve experienced that 80s-90s glow. Where things really seemed beneficial rather than some big ploy for money. I guess it’s always been about the money, we just stopped hiding the fact at one point. I also don’t mean to simplify things, the past has been unkind to many people.

I remember grandmas house had character, everything in it meant something. Everything in my house is from Amazon.

The Texas Superconducting Super Collider under construction, 1990s. (lemmy.world)

Excerpt: The Texas Superconducting Super Collider would have dwarfed CERN’s LHC, according to reports. It was designed as an enormous underground ring complex situated close to Waxahachie and had it been allowed to go forward, would have been considered the most energetic particle accelerator in the world. The project’s...

I love broccoli bob

flooppoolf,

Oof. I don’t have exact facts and evidence for my claims, but he does a pretty good job at giving his interpretation and summarizing various events while showing the sources he gets his info from.

Is there another tertiary source out there that wrote on this topic, not sure. Is his content 100% accurate, not sure either. But I can sure vouch for his videos being good and very well made. All the graphics in them remind me of studying for big finals, they’re easy to recall and keep you in the long ass explanation.

He has episodes on serial plagiarism in the scientific community, it would be very hypocritical of him to do the same.

Online content should not affect your mood!

There are currently millions of people online, it makes it easy to see content that does not align with your needs or the needs of your community. As another commenter said, they might actually believe in what their posts are saying and your opinion might be radical to them.

Online content is easy to polarize. The reality is that most people are happy to meet in the middle and hear you out when they’re part of the same IRL community. No one wants to live in anger with their neighbors. (well almost, there is the occasional feud I’m sure)

But here is a Kurzgesagt video that helps explain why we tend to get defensive online. Fight the good fight and spread positivity wherever you can. Link.

Edit: one of the reasons I haven’t left back to Reddit is because here it’s a bit easier to maintain an air of positivity and open discussion. There are a few topics that will always be taboo such as what we eat, religion, and politics but I can generally post a comment without being hit back with an ugly rebuttal and usually understand that if it’s downvoted to hell it means I’m in the minority thought rather than a piece of shit that should reconsider all his life decisions. If it’s racist or bigotry, fuck all that noise and report it, I thankfully have yet to see a meme on here that elicits any such behavior.

flooppoolf,

It’s like Memmy for iOS’s instance filters. They delete after each fucking exit

flooppoolf,

Then all the furry instances would simultaneously have died

flooppoolf,

Why does the vinaigrette smell like a nail salon?

Which YouTuber's voice can lull you to sleep?

I’ve exhausted things I can sleep to on Netflix, and it’s literally impossible to sleep to things on Prime (so I barely watch anything there; it’s not worth falling asleep to something I like, since I might be punished for it), so I’ve started putting on YouTube in the evenings since it won’t wake me with silence at...

flooppoolf,

I love Technology Connections. Something about his voice, the old tech he covers, and the well informed delivery is really good. Sometimes he luls me.

PBS Space Time is also really fucking good because I don’t really understand much of it as someone with a background in healthcare and not astrophysics/physics, and as soon as my ADHD drifts off his voice hits me on the side of my head and puts me in the fetal position.

flooppoolf,

Sinvicta automatically knocks me out hahahahaha. “Heeeeeywelcomebackevrrybody” on the floor

flooppoolf,

Oh no, the most I’ve dealt with a similar problem is knowing when to use porque vs. por que in Spanish. I still don’t know

When I get a lack of sleep, I often have a splitting headache the next day. Other people never get any headaches. What's wrong with me?

When I get a lack of sleep (or especially multiple nights of bad sleep), I often have a splitting headache the next day that makes me unfunctional and worsens until I get more sleep. Other people I’m with have the exact same sleeping routines and never get any headaches, and can still function despite being tired. What’s...

flooppoolf,

Do you take adderall? lol this post reminded me of when I’d ask my GP why I was getting headaches so often and he confirmed that lack of sleep, dehydration, food deprivation, and well, studying all the time, was bound to cause some negative symptoms.

Even if you don’t take adderall, take a breather, step back and relax, although it may feel like we’re complex unbeatable machines, sleep is more important than you may think.

I personally went through this thought as well but what you may be failing to consider is how often you may neglect your sleep, for how long do you do this, and more importantly, the pain tolerance of others. Some people simply do not communicate their uncomfortable feelings or have a duller sense of them. It does not make you lesser or more than those others but take a moment to appreciate yourself and all the work that you do. You are doing just as much at your own pace.
