fmstrat, to memes in Night vs Morning people

Go with your gut. His ceiling probably creaked when you walked, and that was it.

fmstrat, to privacy in Signal leaked random contacts to me!

Why would you send them to the Android repo instead of github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop?

fmstrat, to memes in They don't know which plumbing fixtures are better or worse do you think a plumber would work here?

Yea, plumbing was a poor choice for title, hah. Every home store in places I’ve lived always seems to have a knowledgeable person.

I should also add, this would require you to use a GDPR respecting instance. There’s a reason places like Amazon have amazon.com and amazon.co.uk, etc. That’s not tenable for me, or most users.

Latency.

fmstrat, to asklemmy in What game do you play to just chill?

Rocket League. And then I’m not chilled.

fmstrat, to asklemmy in Why does lemmy seem better for engagement and conversation then (I meant than) Mastodon

For some reason I would love to see this get hundreds of upvotes and just this one comment.

Not a mastodon user, so my comment is useless anyway 😉

fmstrat, to linux in What happens when Linus dies/retires?

I think this is by design. I once contributed to git, and it required putting a patch in the mailing list. It certainly forced you to be sure your code was spot on.

fmstrat, to mildlyinteresting in Oil prices crashed 19% from their peaks—here's why

Highly likely given the NuScale news

fmstrat, to lemmybewholesome in After watching the 2nd episode of 11th season of Futurama, I googled "Futurama S11E02 discussion" (without quotes) and Lemmy.world was the 2nd result. We can do it, guys.

While probably a valid enough test, keep in mind Google’s fingerprinting goes well beyond IP and what incognito applies. There’s a reason Tor Browser changes things like browser window dimensions every time you open it.

fmstrat, to piracy in Textise - removes everything from a webpage except its text (and links)

Yup! The intent of the changes is to be able to use Markdownr more like what OP needs; as a reader for simplified web content.

fmstrat, to piracy in Textise - removes everything from a webpage except its text (and links)

Uhm, offered dev code, so probably know what an MD is 😉 And sorry, wrong on dark mode as there is no dark mode in the latest Markdownr… I just had a chat with the dev in the issue tracker. It was trivial to add dark mode and preview mode, they are now in the main branch and will be in the next release.

fmstrat, (edited ) to piracy in Textise - removes everything from a webpage except its text (and links)

Oh good find. If I start using this I’m going to add dark mode and a MD preview mode (vs edit mode) so it can be used as a reader vs just a sharer.

Edit: Also just added some sample code that may help with paywalls in their issue tracker.
