governorkeagan,

I’ve seen people complain about companies like Meta and Google but then not make any effort to try and change…people can be weird sometimes.

I suppose there are a lot of factors at play, but still 🤷🏻‍♂️

governorkeagan,

It’s unfortunate but at least it’s moving.

governorkeagan,

I’ll give that a try!

governorkeagan,

I’ve started using Matrix instead of Discord (not that I really ever used Discord).

governorkeagan,

In my case, I’ve seen a lot of Discord groups linked with Matrix. As well as it being mentioned a whole bunch online

governorkeagan,

I’ve not used Tuta but currently use Proton. What do you prefer from Tuta over Proton? Genuinely curious.

Is linux good for someone tech illererate.

Now i’ve been considering moving to linux. I don’t have much of a history using a computer and find it tougher to use than my phone. But I also really appreciate the foss movement. I’ve currently got an old laptop running windows 11 I think and it would prolly speed up with linux too. But I’m afraid I’d fuck smth up...

governorkeagan,

+1 for Pop!_OS, it’s not given me any issues at all! Zorin OS, looks really good as well, especially if you want a more Windows (visually) experience

[SOLVED] Davinci Resolve Plugin Issue on Nobara

I’m currently daily driving Pop!_OS and absolutely love it! I’ve even riced it a little. In the almost 2 months that I have been using Linux as my main OS I have seen a lot of talk about Nobara. I’ve got a spare SSD in my system so I did a quick install on there to see if it would be worth moving. My main priority is...

governorkeagan,

Thank you!

I ran an update after installing Nobara from the welcome page thing. I also ran a dnf update later.

I’ll have a deeper dive tomorrow and try figure out what package has libharfbuzz. Any tips on how to do this effectively?

Resolve is an interesting case since they only officially support 3 distros. They have a .run file which installs the application. resolve on linux

governorkeagan,

I came across it a little while back (after watching a Linux Experiment video) but haven’t gotten into it yet.

The video (if anyone is curious): tilvids.com/w/5XTPqzq54ENNm7kELSaoTw

(solved) I can't get my linux system to run properly

I chose to use opensuse tw kde based on some vm tests. The installation was easy but for some reason the video playback on youtube is terrible. It stutters. First thing I did after install was to use opi to install codecs. Then I used Yast to get the Nvidia repo. Lastly, I used the software manager to install the video g06...

governorkeagan,

Is it only on YouTube? Have you tried another browser or watching a video locally?

governorkeagan,

OP is running on bare metal. They used the VM for testing and have now moved on from that

governorkeagan,

I’ve seen other comments suggest possibly trying a different distro, if that is the case I’d highly recommend Pop!_OS. They have an Nvidia specific ISO that works brilliantly, I’ve not had any issues with it.

governorkeagan,

I’d been playing with the idea of building a Linux app. I used Post Haste on Windows to help me organise footage but haven’t found a substitute on Linux yet.

governorkeagan,

I’ll add some context for anyone who might be interested.

why does the poster image of c/linux have 3.8mb?

When speaking Portuguese (possibly Spanish as well) you would say it like this, a imagem tem….

It is quite common for native speakers of Portuguese (and probably Spanish) mix this up when speaking English.

source: I speak Portuguese

governorkeagan, (edited )

I’m just adding useful extra information to the thread.

Sorry for being a bit of a dick, I think you mean that the file “is 3.8MB”.

The sentence I was referring to in my original comment.

Edit: added context

governorkeagan,

This was the first I’d heard of it and from my first impression it seemed like it could be a solid beginner distributor.

Glad to see you do recommend it to beginners. This would probably be easier for my partner to get into compared to Pop!_OS (I’ll be testing this soon though!)

I finally switched back to Linux as my daily driver after a couple of years of being on nothing but Windows.

I ran Manjaro Linux as my daily driver a few years ago but slowly phased it out for Windows for some reason, and I’m finally back using Linux (currently Linux Mint). I gotta say, I don’t know why I ever switched back to Windows. There’s just so much freedom Linux gives you right off the bat that Windows is just plain...

governorkeagan,

Adding to what has already been said. It can help to differentiate when you use multiple OS’s but end up using one more than the rest.

governorkeagan,

Same!

governorkeagan,

I can’t wait for these changes to go live on TILvids.com

Thank you for all the hard work!!

governorkeagan,

Interesting. I might give it a go in a VM. I’m also waiting for the new DE from Pop!_OS, too may options lol

governorkeagan,

Has anyone used Vanilla OS here? It seems really interesting, would like to get some opinions.

governorkeagan,

It was frightening to watch that happen live. So many people were unable to get home after work because of the rioting. There were claims that they did it for the woman and children, but I fail to see how they helped anyone but themselves.
