hperrin, to linux in 2in1's or tablet recs. for linux please.

I currently have an Acer Spin 5 I bought like 3 years ago. It’s an awesome little machine. I use it every day to code on, and once in a while I’ll do some graphic design work on it where I need the pen support. The pen it comes with is too small to be comfortable, so I use a Dell active pen. Everything works on it out of the box except the fingerprint reader. I don’t use fingerprint readers anyway, but there is a way to get it working.

hperrin, to linux in Dumbest Thing you have done distro-hopping?

There is a way to recover it. You can use a root shell aka recovery shell (usually available through your GRUB menu) to change the permissions on your home directory. But just reinstalling was probably easier anyway.

Cool. Another OS to avoid.

Does it have to be an internet meme? Also does God count as a meme?

hperrin, to linux in Anyone else experiencing high CPU and disk load by gnome tracker after upgrading fedora to 39?

My guess is that it’s reindexing, and will settle down when done. Give it a day, and if it’s still going, then worry.

My Jellyfin server has become quite useful as I’ve unsubscribed from various services.

Yeah a new TV is great. I’d like to be able to buy a house though.

hperrin, to memes in Its getting old.

I created a new email service that prevents spam and organized your email. If it works out and I become successful, I can imagine Google trying to buy it, and if I say no, all of a sudden Gmail starts having issues receiving mail from my service. Gmail and Exchange together share about 70% of the business email market, so they can destroy smaller competitors if they aren’t willing to sell. Yay capitalism!

hperrin, to asklemmy in How can a naturally anxious person keep from worrying while laid up in bed with a broken ankle and leg?

I don’t really have any advice for you, but I hope your surgery goes well and you start feeling better soon. I’m sending good vibes your way!

Gotta defederate from their instances before they turn this whole place into a nazi bar.

hperrin, to asklemmy in I use Brave to test whether my websites work on Chromium browsers, but their scummy actions lately make me want to find a new Chromium browser to test with. What's the best Chromium based browser?

This is awesome! Thank you.

Unfortunately, based just on this, Brave seems to be the best, but there’s additional stuff in Brave that makes it much less appealing.

hperrin, to asklemmy in Why does eating a frozen ready meal alone feel depressing even tho it's objectively good that I can have nice warm food easily

Probably because you’re alone, and you don’t feel accomplished regarding your meal. If either of those changed, you’d probably feel better.
