jacktherippah, to privacy in What is your tracker stats?

Just as a heads up, Exodus is highly misleading

jacktherippah, to asklemmy in If the human body didn't heal itself, how'd you be doing rn?

Very dead.

jacktherippah, to opensource in It's joever. Tachiyomi will no longer be actively developed.

Jay hasn’t responded yet. I’m still holding out hope. J2K is my favorite fork.

Their reasoning is sound. They don’t want to defend against a corporation for a hobbyist project. There’s already going to be a fork so that’s good I guess. I just hope jay forks it for a J2K version.

jacktherippah, to asklemmy in What do normal people look at on their phones?

I couldn’t care less about the others. I have extremely strong opinions about TikTok though.

jacktherippah, (edited ) to privacy in I have an issue with how SIM cards are handled in most countries

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the vast majority of people here don’t have such a threat model. Our threat model is mostly preventing corporations like Google and Facebook from accessing our data. If your threat model is so advanced that you need to prevent tracking via connection to a cell tower (i.e state actors targeting you), the only thing you can do short of putting your phone in a faraday cage/taking out the cellular radios/ not having a phone at all is to turn on airplane mode. This is because your phone still maintains a connection to a cell tower without a SIM card.

jacktherippah, to linux in Why more PC gaming handhelds should ditch Windows for SteamOS

Yeah, they’re former Redditors. They don’t read past the titles.

jacktherippah, to privacy in The Boost android client for Lemmy is displaying these dark pattern ads pretending to be system notifications. What security/privacy conscious Lemmy clients do you recommend?

This is exactly the reason why I don’t like F-Droid as a way to get apps. You’ll have to trust an additional party when getting your apps, and updates are often a couple days behind. I prefer to get it straight from the developer’s GitHub or Coderberg or whatever.

jacktherippah, to asklemmy in How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

I have none because I’m broke af.

jacktherippah, to asklemmy in What do normal people look at on their phones?

Probably social media like Facebook, Instagram, … Or video sharing sites like TikTok (yuck!) and YouTube.

TachiyomiJ2K is what I use.

jacktherippah, to linux in GNOME Shell & Mutter 46 Alpha Released - Phoronix

Cool but when is GNOME gonna do fractional scaling without half the apps I use going blurry?

jacktherippah, (edited ) to asklemmy in Do You Have a Fire Extinguisher in Your Home and is it Still Pressurized?

Yup, one for every floor! Yup, one for every floor!

jacktherippah, (edited ) to piracy in Extensions list removed for Tachiyomi

Yes. Tachiyomi has removed all extensions from the app. Forks like TachiJ2K are affected as well. However, you can still download and use the existing extensions. They’ve been backed up to some external repos. Just choose the new repos as the extension source and you’re good to go. But as they’re not getting fixes and such anymore, those existing extensions will only continue to work until they don’t anymore. After that, idk, maybe some new extensions will be developed by someone else, or you’ll just have to bring your own content.
