just_another_person,

I just had the time with it, honestly. So many things are broken, like spelling and dictionary integration. I know the dev is reworking some things, but even the last release doesn’t work very well. Respects privacy, sure. Works well, naw.

just_another_person,

Prediction on dictionary, and prediction in general is broken. You essentially can’t type out anything aside from the base diction without getting crazy suggestions. Kind of a deal breaker.

just_another_person,

Look up replacements for the key actions bits and such and see if there is anything out there that gets you closer. Laptops are made to be portable, but not very customizable. Good luck 👍

just_another_person,

Can probably even run quite a few games as well!

just_another_person,

We’re talking about the AMD model, but thanks for your feedback.

just_another_person,

Your talking about the Intel model then, but thanks for your response.

I have a 13" AMD, so all good!

Edit: Reddit comments from 3 months ago, and we all have the same issues: www.reddit.com/r/framework/…/amd_13_any_review/

just_another_person,

Not all of that is true, you who seems to be from Framework. Did you fix the ACPI issues? How about the SLEEP modes? Anything being done about the crazy battery drain on AMD chips?

just_another_person,

Disclosure: I bought one because of the idea and dream. It’s…okay-ish. I love the idea, but the execution is going to be a time-based thing. They need to fix a lot of issues with power consumption, and I get this will take time, but I just don’t understand where their projections for performance and battery life came from on Linux. They have entire papers written on the subject, and a lot of documentation on specific kernel issues and distros, but this is like a Beta. I’m afraid for the 16" AMD version I’m also expecting soon, but got delayed. I REALLY want to love this project, but it’s not there yet.

Would love to hear other’s experiences.

just_another_person,

It’s like the systemd argument all over again. SIGH

just_another_person,

You want give some context here? We don’t even know who is speaking in these screenshots, and to what end. Why would this even be a conversation?

What should be used for anonymous usernames?

More often than not, the best way to hide is to simply blend in with the crowds – this also encompasses one’s choice for a username. It is relatively simple to make a single throwaway account – just come up with a username, and off you go – however, if one makes throwaway accounts often, the task of thinking of a unique,...

just_another_person,

Must be a new feature. I developed a client for BW 6 months ago, and this was definitely not a thing.

just_another_person,

Must be client side only. TIL

just_another_person,

Well, the same thing, but just not part of the BW server API is all.

just_another_person,

It’s not a public project. It was based on their docs to be compliant though, much the same as the vaultwarden project.

just_another_person,

Use a password generator in a password manager for the username AND password. Bitwarden is free.

Use a temporary email for email signups. getnada.com works fine, but so do many others.

just_another_person,

Try setting up docker as rootless. Might be your issue.

just_another_person,

Purge all, reinstall, turn on debug logging.

How to download ALL dependencies for an external .deb package (rescuezilla)?

Hi everyone! I’m trying to prepare a live iso with a USB stick including the additional rescuezilla package (or, alternatively, additional packages for a live rescuezilla .iso). Sadly rescuezilla does not support encryption, and so I’d like to be able to create/encrypt an image on one single live iso, not having to do a...

just_another_person,

This seems like a trick question, but app the repo to your apt sources first, then try to install. Step through for each unresolved dep if needed.

just_another_person,

You could just override your local DNS to do so, but you’ll end up breaking other sites that try to load it at some point. Maybe try only using a bookmark?

just_another_person,

Disable auto-off power management features for the port you have the device plugged into. Try the ‘Tunables’ menu in the powertop utility if you want to temporarily test to see if it works. Easiest thing I can think of for a beginner.
