Certified refurbished drives. They’re less reliable than new, but a hell of a lot cheaper. I’ve been running my Plex on a 14 TB.

Just beware of the sound levels of some of those drives.

A used one in your area, so long as it’s newer (2021+)

I would recommend using Linux on it instead of ChromeOS, if you’re a little more technically inclined. ChromeOS is fine but it limits you to just the Google ecosystem whereas Linux allows you to do things with it like a normal computer.

I took an old (2017?) model and put a super lightweight Linux distro on it and use it as a little administrator device. It’s got good battery and acceptable processor speed, but it’s severely limited by CPU cooling and storage.

I did it just by myself. I just kept critiquing myself after a negative interaction and trying to figure out why I got angry or frustrated. I still give in to that anger once in a while but I’ve gotten better.

I learned it’s easier for me to forgive when I’ve had proper sleep, actually. I also look at it from the other person’s side and think of what problems that person is going through and excuse them for whatever is frustrating me.

It’s easy to think of it like a shitty driver and getting angry at them. Why are they speeding? Could be a bathroom emergency. Could be meeting a loved one at the hospital. I don’t know, so I’m not gonna judge.

jws_shadotak, to asklemmy in Do you know of any obscure useful websites?

You can set it up on your computer to run as a local website. You access it by going to your local computer IP address followed by the port it’s on.

I set mine to run on port 8084.

192.168.1.10:8084

If I put that into my browser it loads the website directly from the computer I’m hosting it from.

it-tools.tech

Bonus points is you can host yourself with docker. It has a bunch of handy tools for computer related projects.

jws_shadotak, to asklemmy in "Return Youtube Dislike" Doesn't work anymore....

It’s more likely an issue with the placement of the stats rather than the data behind it. YouTube probably updated the UI in a way that Return Dislikes is not compatible with.

jws_shadotak, to piracy in What's the best way to pirate a recent Windows OS?

HWID is permanent, even after Microsoft fixed the method that massgravel was using. It only affected new installs because people couldn’t run the script to activate Windows permanently.

It’s fixed and activating permanently now though.

jws_shadotak, to piracy in I may have downloaded music from 1337xx.to . is there anything to worry about?

Tidal DL is an awesome tool. I signed up for the trial and then ripped about 120 GB to host myself.

jws_shadotak, to piracy in What apps/stack to automate grabbing content and adding it to Plex?

As atfergs said, Overseerr.

I have a lot of friends and family that stream from my Plex so I set up an Overseerr instance that is outward facing through a Cloudflared tunnel.

Overseerr uses Plex shared users to handle authentication and allows fine control of permissions per user.

It sends requests straight to Sonarr and Radarr to handle.
