I'm a web developer.

Lemmy does not use the entire screen width. The way it has been embedded in the page means that image takes up only 850 pixels of horizontal space so it could be 5x smaller and no one would be able to see the difference.

Lemmy really should be automatically resizing the images (on the server) when they are uploaded, not every single time the community is viewed (in the browser).

kglitch,

I got it to 47 KB after resizing it to 850px by 239px, heh

kglitch,

Have you checked your C:\windows\temp folder lately?

Time to ditch #duckduckgo (lemmy.world)

In the last couple of months I have noticed an increasing trend of supplying me search results that are completely unrelated to the current query and tie back to my location or previous searches. I can say this with a high degree of certainty this is without a doubt beyond the 100th instance this has happened....

The only time I use ddg is to find conspiracy sites to add to the blocklist I maintain. All the trash rises to the top in that search engine. It's rubbish.

kglitch, (edited )

Mostly to avoid conspiracies. The intended users are people who want to protect vulnerable family members.

Another purpose is to demonstrate that the big social networks could get rid of disinformation if they wanted to - "look what 1 person can achieve, in their spare time", kinda thing.

kglitch,

Whenever another fixture of the 20th century leaves us, I spend a few minutes watching their clips, listening to their songs, reading their writing, or whatever they did. Gonna do that now.

RIP

kglitch,

I rage quit Lemmy when I saw the developers of it defending genocide. Previously I had heard about that through the grapevine and thought I could hold my nose and use Lemmy anyway but when I read the actual discussion it made me sick.

Plus I know the language kbin is written in so I can contribute better to kbin.

kglitch,

Yes, that was the first thing I noticed about Lemmy. Why even have nested comments if they're indented so little? Terrible!

Kbin is better but I still needed to make it even bigger before I was satisfied. And add collapsing comments.
