Plex To Launch a Store For Movies and TV Shows (entertainment.slashdot.org)
Another question about used hard drives
Did decide to go the used drive route just saving up and waiting for the right deal from a good seller. I did notice on eBay specifically that some sellers have tested drives for a great price per tb with a shit seller’s warranty (30 days to 1 year) but offer insurance for a significantly longer length of time for a few more...
The Boost android client for Lemmy is displaying these dark pattern ads pretending to be system notifications. What security/privacy conscious Lemmy clients do you recommend? (lemmy.ml)
Youtube has better anti-adblock now. Other than Invidious, any way around it? Purging and re-dowloading the ublock stuff didn't work
Looks like DRM prevented to watch movies in many theaters yesterday (www.theverge.com)
From the article:...
PC died. Trying the legal options.
And fuck. I really miss plex. I’ve had Netflix and Hulu forever as family won’t let me cancel. Decided to sign up to Paramount + for some Trek. Twice in lower decks it didn’t save my watched episodes. Doesn’t mark episode as watched if you exit during the credits. And multiple playback issues....

This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...
Pirate Site Blocking Demands Intensify in the US (torrentfreak.com)
I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."
They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....
What site should I trust?
Even the site that considered safe in the megathread, there’s report of malware and trojan and I don’t know what site to use
Question regarding ripping dvds (yes DVDs)
I know the majority opinion is not to do it for various reasons, but basically I started to backup the majority of my dvd collection that I created over the years since I have the time and they were just collecting dust. Turns out though I guess I’m doing it “wrong” or at least not in the original quality since I used...

Using the "frog in boiling water" technique (lemmy.world)
This is a $1 dollar increase from what I was paying. But soon subscribers will be $15/month, then $20/month. I wonder how much of deezer’s income actually goes to the artists.
Old Manifest V2 Chrome extensions will be disabled in 2024 (9to5google.com)
This is literally the internet nowadays without an adblock (discuss.tchncs.de)
I cannot understand how some people are living with this. It is unbearable
