lemmyingly,

Those people are not trying to live off the value added to society of their creative works.

Ctrl + X is eXit. Ctrl + S is Save without a prompt.

lemmyingly,

This is standard perpetual licensing seen across many software.

One off payment = you get a perpetual license for the major version of the software including all patches for it.

Subscription = you pay a smaller fee than the one off payment per annum. You get all updates and patches. But when you stop paying, you don’t get anymore updates or patches and you can lose access to the software.

lemmyingly,

I thought about using it a few years ago but their pricing was just too expensive.

Next smartphone I buy, which one do you recommend?

Things that make me angry about my current smartphone Samsung Galaxy S21Ultra on a Verizon plan is the mandatory software updates in which they install WITHOUT MY PERMISSION stupid apps like Netflix and addictive gambling games and stacking block games and Candy crush. God knows what else they install without my permission. I...

lemmyingly,

I’ve read it a few times over the years. Maybe I keep reading people say the same misinformation. I suppose without root we’ll never know.

Your anecdotal evidence could just be that you’ve ruined your profile; although of course, you could be entirely correct.

I’ve only used it to remove annoying apps, e.g. Facebook. I’ve never gone crazy with it as I don’t care about the manufacturer’s pre-installed apps as they’ve remained silent for me.

lemmyingly,

The none root method that you mentioned is just removing the application from your profile. It’s still present in the OS.

lemmyingly,

WSL ;)

I quite like both OSs but mostly for different reasons.

lemmyingly,

I want my life to be 69% better. Did you follow a good guide? Do you recall which guide it was?

lemmyingly,

Use a dedicated account for YouTube. How will they remove your emails if they’re on a separate account?

I use a YouTube channel account, which might be good enough. I’ve had one in the past banned and the rest of my Google account was left alone.

(I was only just getting into creating programs that communicate with online services and I hammered their API. My program didn’t have any checks and balances to ensure it wouldn’t go over it or to throttle back when the API endpoint attempts tell it to calm down. It only happened once but that was good enough to get it banned)

lemmyingly,

Looks like it’s only available on Chrome based browsers, oh well.

lemmyingly,

Or evidence that disproves a claim made about why any of these are bad.

lemmyingly,

Unless you use a VPN or proxy.

Seedboxes are good but only seem worth the cost if you’re utilizing it a lot/frequently?

Time to ditch #duckduckgo (lemmy.world)

In the last couple of months I have noticed an increasing trend of supplying me search results that are completely unrelated to the current query and tie back to my location or previous searches. I can say this with a high degree of certainty this is without a doubt beyond the 100th instance this has happened....

lemmyingly,

Tell me more…

Do you maintain the block list to avoid conspiracies or because these types of websites are riddled with nasties?

lemmyingly,

I don’t trust Windows Defender at all. I use BitchDefender all of the time. I tried Windows Defender for a year and it didn’t fill me with confidence.

I also upload to virus total anything from an unknown source. I tried to use Intezer as well but I had many problems with my account that I have up on them. For some reason their server didn’t like my account. A brand new account got closed the following day for being inactive for too long. A week later I can reset the password but I can’t log in.

lemmyingly,

To summarise, I2P is similar to Tor, except that every client also serves as a node, and there are no exit nodes, so you can only access data shared by other I2P clients

Is my summary correct?

lemmyingly,

The craft computing guy on YouTube said in a video that he runs at 7-8khw/day at idle. :O

lemmyingly,

I think they get hate because Canonical is a commercial entity.

lemmyingly,

Windows serves ads? Where?

Edit: Why are people mad that I don’t see adverts on Windows?
