Ok, I just reread it. I don’t see what you think I’m missing. You mean an improperly written find command misbehaving? The fact that a different date format could prevent a bug from manifesting doesn’t seem like much of an argument.

lolcatnip, to memes in Standards shouldn't be behind a paywall

But $(date) does return a string with spaces, at least on every system I’ve ever used. And what’s so bad about the possibility of spaces in filenames? They’re slightly inconvenient in a command line, but I haven’t used a commuter this century that didn’t support spaces in filenames.

One rotor vs two, human anatomy vs Klingon?

Would’ve been better to say Blackhawk instead of helicopter. I would’ve gotten the joke a lot faster, at least.

IIRC there’s an episode of Enterprise where Ferengis try to capture the crew to sell them as slaves

Ok but they definitely do. Quark might not be the most reliable commentator.

lolcatnip, to risa in Odo flavored.

People say vanilla is a boring flavor, but it’s not. It’s a versatile flavor.

Why is Lib capitalized when Linux is case sensitive and Lib files aren’t a thing?

lolcatnip, to risa in Rule of Acquisition #10: Greed is eternal

They really missed an opportunity to say “to have been continued”.

Although they do practice slavery and piracy.

One rule of thumb I discovered when doing research about a year ago is that AMD chips are generally way better than Intel chips when it comes to power consumption.

“Paying” for tax cuts makes sense in the context of changing budgets while trying to keep them balanced. But no money is ever spent on tax cuts. It’s spent on the public infrastructure and services you mentioned. If you properly account for the money as being used to pay for public goods, then saying it’s also used to pay for tax cuts would be double counting.

This whole thread is a great example of why I’m continually disappointed with Lemmy. Half the comments are just some variation of “capitalism bad”. I hate capitalism as much as the next guy, but it sure would be nice if people would stop grinding their axes for a few minutes to talk about the actual subject of the post. Or just not comment at all if they don’t have anything relevant to say.

lolcatnip, to linux in What's with all these hip filesystems and how are they different?

ButterFS (btrfs…its actually “better” right?),

I’m still waiting to find out who the BCA Chefs are.

Saying taxes pay for cuts to someone else’s taxes is nonsensical in this context. No money is spent on tax cuts.
