Or, they’re in a circular paddock…

macrocephalic, to asklemmy in What's some amazing technology they have in Japan that's very normal to them but would blow our minds here in the US and western world?

Everything has traces of faeces on it, this fixation on it seems irrational when you put it into context. The burger meat comes from a dead animal that spent it’s life wandering in a field and trampling it’s own shit. The fries come from the root of a plant grown in the dirt. The bun is made from wheat which was probably infested with mice. You yourself are a biological machine that turns food into energy and discards the waste. Your body has a tube filled with faeces right now.

Yes, we try to keep waste separate from food, but the world is not a clean-room.

Huh? I don’t recall there ever being a subscription for FB. I also use social fixer extension which helps

But placebos do still work when you know they’re placebos.

macrocephalic, to asklemmy in Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

Yeah I was already a tiny adult when they came out. I tried reading them as an older adult and only got through one and a half.

It’s strange that you said that and then said you liked fury road. I thought fury road was the epitome of spectacle and production value with actual value.

They’ve been using the same plot outline for the whole series so they surely have it sorted by now.

Agreed. I saw it many years ago so maybe should give it another shot, but someone would have to convince me it was worth it.

One of my favourites is the episode of Supernatural where they cross some barrier and end up in “our world” where they’re just actors on a tv show, magic isn’t real, and Castiel is actually a needy beta who keeps wanting to hang out.

They knew that, by that stage of the show it was just shlock so they leaned into it.

It occurred to me why The Wiggles have been making so much money for so long: they only need to have enough material to entertain kids for a few years, and the ages that they’re targeting are the ones who love repetition anyway! Most entertainers need to constantly improve and evolve, but kids entertainers just need to enthusiastically do the same thing over and over.

I’m not sure I get your point, but I agree with your premise. Tarantino has made some ok movies but more often than not I find them boring, with poor acting and absurdly uninteresting story lines.

The original Star Wars movies were probably really good and genre defining in the late 70s, but they’re just boring and campy now.

I’m not especially interested in Arch, but I’d like to know where the metal garden is 🤘

macrocephalic, to asklemmy in What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I don’t seem to have this problem. I create playlists all the time and shuffle them. I never listen to artist radio and rarely use suggested songs. I find a lot of great music through Spotify and end up finding so many bands that I can’t listen to them all.
