mateomaui, (edited ) to piracy in Help me trash my FireTV stick

I just installed SmartTubeNext on mine for ad free youtube and it turns out I can pair it with and cast from YouTube Revanced on my tablet, and it carries over all the skips for SponsorBlock as well. Don’t even have to be logged in to SmartTube, works fine with the default anon view. You don’t even have to keep them connected. Once SmartTube receives a playlist, you can disconnect the cast and SponsorBlock sections still work.

At this point all I have on it is Kodi, Twitch, SmartTubeNext, the free Roku app for old tv series, and RetroArch for pre-N64 games.(edit: it may very well play n64 games etc as well, it’s more an issue of storage space for me. My Kodi library is pretty big.)

Pair it with a pihole and Twitch is also ad free.

I did, it includes none of the information you posted regarding non-VIP accounts.

Also, I’ve read through the post several times, and it doesn’t mention anonymous quotas or anything like that. It’s just one long promo for what VIP accounts get over regular accounts.

Further, your quoted quotas are wrong, as the screenshot I provided shows 10 per day for anonymous accounts.

If you’re going to shame people for reading comprehension, you should probably read the details yourself a bit closer.

I can only conclude that everyone upvoting you didn’t bother to read the post either.

Anyway, back to sucking my ass with you.

mateomaui, to linux in Dumbest Thing you have done distro-hopping?

Personally, I keep the redundant backup as cold storage to minimize loss. Three 8TB content or archival drives that are always attached via USB but not powered until needed, plus another on NAS for streaming, and two more 8TB each for double backup that are only turned on when I want to do a sync. So the drives get minimal wear, and whenever a primary dies, the backups get promoted and a new one is bought to be third in line. I have lost too much data in the past. As well as I can manage, never ever again.

mateomaui, to linux in Best Linux distro for gaming on a crappy integrated graphics old PC?

Absolutely, this thing has been sitting around for ages because it was barely powerful enough for WindowsXP when it first came out. Now has a new purpose!

While everyone’s at it, you may want to check for leaks with Mullvad VPN’s service, it picked up a DNS leak for me that got past a few other sites:

edit: also ipleak.net, which tests a few other things, like torrent ips

Using Firefox on iPhone

edit: Nvm previous result, I got the same result OP did with Firefox and Safari, I realized I was testing on my wifi with a pihole… switched to mobile network only and protection dropped to partial.

edit2: but Firefox Focus still has strong protection:

btw, I’m on a downvote-disabled server, so none of those you’re getting are from me.

mateomaui, to selfhosted in Noob question about PiHole

Huh, I’ll definitely look into that. Both times I tried to route external pihole access, somehow other mystery services found it and it slowed to a crawl from getting absolutely pounded by requests not from me. Thanks for that tip!

Be aware that there’s a Linux Mint Debian Edition if you want a Debian base with a few QoL improvements.

mateomaui, (edited ) to piracy in Windows 10

Thank you! That sounds more promising and less problematic than before. I may have a question about doing new updates like the one in the example, but I’m not sure what it would be at the moment. Though once I have a moment to go look in the windows package directory in the example, that may clear it up, if all the packages follow a version naming convention for use with wildcards. Thanks again for the info!

edit: oh and I just realized that’s a tiny10 subreddit, adding that as a resource now.

Yes, I know this already, and the API docs provide different info than the screencap from opensubtitles.com (which the blogpost is about transferring accounts to from opensubtitles.org), so being a douche about anyone not being clear on things from reading any of that, much less reading just the blogpost, was uncalled for.

Except the screencap I provided shows different information, and as you say it’s not in the OP, so there’s still no reason for that guy being a jackass about others being confused about the situation.

I have some learning disabilities, thanks for asking. Prick.
