Hello everyone, I need help choosing my first distro. I want to be able to run Audio software for editing and mixing. So I need also VST plug ins and others. Currently I use Windows 10, and Reaper....
Thank you! That sounds more promising and less problematic than before. I may have a question about doing new updates like the one in the example, but I’m not sure what it would be at the moment. Though once I have a moment to go look in the windows package directory in the example, that may clear it up, if all the packages follow a version naming convention for use with wildcards. Thanks again for the info!
edit: oh and I just realized that’s a tiny10 subreddit, adding that as a resource now.
Yes, I know this already, and the API docs provide different info than the screencap from opensubtitles.com (which the blogpost is about transferring accounts to from opensubtitles.org), so being a douche about anyone not being clear on things from reading any of that, much less reading just the blogpost, was uncalled for.
Except the screencap I provided shows different information, and as you say it’s not in the OP, so there’s still no reason for that guy being a jackass about others being confused about the situation.
I’ve been seeing all these posts about Linux lately, and looking at them, I can honestly see the appeal. I’d love having so much autonomy over the OS I use, and customize it however I like, even having so many options to choose from when it comes to distros. The only thing holding me back, however, is incompatibility issues....
I posted this as a comment in another post but when I got done I realized it would probably just be better as its own post. I’m sure I could find the answers I need myself but frankly I trust the userbase here more than most online articles....
In addition to using virtual machines, remember that once a virtual machine is installed, you can use 7zip (or any zipping program) to archive the whole folder containing the vm files, so if something screws up on the vm, you can reset by deleting the folder, restore it from the zipped archive, and trying again without having to do the whole installation process over and over. You can make as many of those archives as you want as you get a vm install to different milestones.
It only takes a few tragic events before “backup frequently, often and offline” really takes hold and doing preemptive backup becomes a neurosis. You have to experience a certain amount of fear, loss and regret to get there.
edit: the upside is I haven’t reinstalled a primary OS in years. Something is fucked? Restore that last image and keep rolling.
On iOS, I’ve discovered that I can uninstall the YT app, set Firefox Focus as my default browser, and then use PocketTube linked to my YT account to open a group playlist, and it plays in FF Focus without ads… so far.
True. I didn’t openly question things in that class too much for some reason, but I definitely got in trouble for being argumentative in other classes.
