I’m on the fence about him, as I haven’t really dug into it, but i get the impression that it’s mostly allegations without proof. His sister made some outlandish claims, but her credibility has been called intoquestion.

There were some settlements/payoffs, but I’m not going to speculate whether that was for covering something up, or if it was an attempt at appeasing people who just wanted a quick buck.

It can be said with certainty that he liked being around kids, possibly in a purely innocent manner. Anything beyond that is hard to say for certain. And the stories about kids sharing bedroom with him often fail to take into account that his bedroom was larger than most houses.

neidu2,

I was about to suggest of=/dev/dsp, but that devnode doesn’t seem to be in use anymore

Timeshift. It has an easy to understand GUI that doesn’t really need much of an intro: You create snapshots of your system files and configs that can be restored if/when you bungle it up.

neidu2,

There are many approaches, depending on what broke. In my case the system was fine, just xorg being completely borked. So I logged into the console and fixed it.

If regular console doesn’t work, something really went bad during boot, for which there’s single-user mode which is kind of similar to safe mode from Windows 98 (I’m sure there’s something similar in newer windows versions).

And of that doesn’t work, there’s the minimalistic rescue shell.

And if that doesn’t work, you can boot from a USB or some other external media and try to fix your system from that, maybe even using chroot to use the system somewhat normally.

I’m not very well versed on docker, but this sounds like a config issue. The behavior seems similar to “squash root” found in many other services.

neidu2,

One of my more decent pieces has an oboe and a horn duet as the melody. The oboe is such a unique and beautiful sounding instrument that pairs well with many more softer instruments

neidu2,

Every day. piping srdout to a combination of awk and sed makes shell operations a lot easier. A lot of my earlier perl hacks have now been replaced by a combination of awk, sed, and xargs

neidu2,

Wholeheartedly agree. I’ve edited the OP accordingly.

neidu2,

Redcalcium provided a much better link. I’ve edited my post accordingly.

I’ve scrolled past this meme countless times, but somehow I didn’t think of this before now: What does an composite video signal sound like?Anyone have the hardware to test it out and record the sound for me?

I’ve opened serial terminals to serial mice, and I’ve abused /dev/dsp with random binaries I’ve fancied at the moment, but it never dawned on me to plug the red or white RCA jack into the yellow port in the mame of science, and now I only have audio RCA…

EDIT: Composite video, not s-video

neidu2,

Similar problem here. I’ve invented a pill that actually does make your penis 30% larger with no side effects, but nobody seems interested in investing in scaling up production.

neidu2,

It all started when a friend and I were cruising down the street in his brand new Ferrari. You see, he ran a website with an award for the one millionth visitor. It had a flashing banner popup with sound and everything, but nobody registered to claim the Ferrari. That’s when it dawned on me that someone should actually do some research into penis enlargement pills, and the answer was surprisingly simple. To make one you just need to use this one weird trick, discovered by a mom.

neidu2,

Throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going.

neidu2,

Same. Well, kind of - I used to, until the company was bought up and corporate bullshit took over. I am in the process of drafting the paperwork for my next job with the people I used to work with, so I can once more enjoy my job.

neidu2,

The platitudes that carry no actual well wishes beyond a catchphrase that gets repeated by everyone. I’ll be merry someday, but not now.

I’ve somehow managed to avoid Mariah Carey this year. I live in the middle of nowhere, so we don’t really have department stores here. I did stumble across this shop in the next town over where they played Wham - Last Christmas which in my book is OK… it’s not an overly christmassy song, it’s just a regular 80’s pop song that happens to mention christmas as part of its story.

neidu2,

I think Halsin would be into progmetal as well. At least Images & Words
