It’s known that sneezing is a reflex to prevent dust or nose hairs or whatever from getting down into the lungs, but why do people and animals sometimes get hiccups? What function does that serve, and what causes them?...
I hear you there about having to regularly purchase blades for the more modern razors, but have you considered trying a safety razor? I use one regularly, and not only are the blades super cheap, they’ll also last you quite a long time if properly cleaned and dried off right after each use.
Actually, usually when I get hiccups, I can also feel and hear fluids and gasses sloshing around somewhere inside me, and part of me absolutely wishes I could burp during those times.
Keep in mind, they say the human intestines are something like 27 feet long, and are packed in there as mostly a random mess of a ‘knot’, so to speak. So just because you happen to have gasses somewhere in your belly doesn’t always mean the gas is immediately in a spot ready to go either way up or down.

I used to use NewPipe, but there’s a new mobile app on the block from FUTO called Grayjay. You really should check it out, it’s even more flexible and also loads and runs faster than NewPipe.
Check their ‘Our Three Pledges’, particularly the third one regarding open source…
Quoted from their site, pledge #3
“We will always be transparently devoted to making delightful software. All FUTO-funded projects are expected to be open-source or develop a plan to eventually become so. No effort will ever be taken to hide from the people what their computers are doing, to limit how they use them, or to modify their behavior through their software.”
The app is so relatively new that initially it wasn’t even on any of the app stores, only straight from their site. But now it’s also on Google Play and APKPure, possibly other alternative app stores as well. Give it some time, I’m pretty sure F-Droid is on their radar as well sooner or later.
The app is still labeled as being Under Construction, but so far I’m rather pleased with it and would recommend giving it a try.
They don’t give a flying crap if you modify the source and compile it privately for yourself, they just don’t want people or companies making profit from their works or distributing said modifications without their approval.
They’re not worried about individuals like ourselves making our own private modifications if we so care to. They know 95%+ of individuals out there aren’t even coders anyways, they just expect the few that do happen to go out of their way to modify their apps don’t distribute their mods without authorization.
The main infrastructure of their license is to make sure the big companies out there can’t legally rip off their code, alter it and sell it under their own branding or such.
That sounds like a you problem. I respect the terms of their license, and have no intent or desire to distribute any modified versions of their software, should I ever even care to try modifying anything in the first place.
If you do happen to find ways to improve their software, maybe consider applying with FUTO…
Movies? Look, I’m asking for a friend, he’s been at McDonald’s for like 45 minutes and the manager keeps refusing him brains. I just want an ice cream cone.
As a former iPhone repair technician, I can confirm this is both true and false at the same time. There’s a speaker in the normal position for the ear as well, it all depends whether the user decided to put the phone into loudspeaker mode.
This comment coming from an Android user that’s just as guilty of this at times.
No no, I mean he’s talking into the top of the phone, perhaps where the loudspeaker microphone might happen to be, totally depends on the model of phone/tablet though.
They got multiple microphones these days, not just the one at the bottom of the phone. Put it in loudspeaker mode and it uses a different microphone away from the bottom speaker.
Any which way, if you turn the phone upside down in portrait orientation, the screen won’t flip 180⁰, because ‘smart’ phones are too stupid to do that.
Edit: My comment is in jest, but at the same time I have to talk into the left side of my tablet, because thats where the main microphone is.
If you’re running on auxiliary power, you should eat the phone by now and conserve your calories. Make sure to boil your urine though. Stay safe, if you need assistance you can always call [redacted].
Do hiccups serve any actual useful biological function?
It’s known that sneezing is a reflex to prevent dust or nose hairs or whatever from getting down into the lungs, but why do people and animals sometimes get hiccups? What function does that serve, and what causes them?...
Does Piped.video actually work for anyone?

If zombies are supposed to go after brains, then why do they almost always end up tearing into the abdomen and other parts instead?
Seriously, are the zombies too stupid to find the brain? Are they too weak to crack open the skull?...
Was it not ripe enough or something? (startrek.website)
