Give it time. At this rate, we’re heading directly back to the days of “women don’t can’t wear pants”.

The problem was doing the dishes. Just let them pile up, it’ll be fine.

Side note though: Work/life balance for the win. I get paid slightly less than others in my field, but I also work ~40 hours a week, and never take work home with me. It’s wonderful.

The Bible contains quite a bit of hating others… God is a real piece of shit in the old testament. What did Job do to deserve what he got? Why did he tell Abraham to kill his own son for a goof? The book literally justifies slavery.

According to the book, Jesus is God, so…

prole, to asklemmy in given how little one vote matter, it seems to me that stripping felons of their right to vote is both petty and counterproductive if the point was to reform them into civic minded individuals ?

Also keep in mind that they count those prisoners as part of the census, which affects how resources are distributed.

So they’re counted, but don’t get a vote. Ripe for abuse by unscrupulous politicians.

Ok, just pointing out that your beliefs are not consistent with your holy book.

By what criteria are you able to justify ignoring parts of the book and not others? Is it not the inerrant word of God? Didn’t Jesus say that he didn’t come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it? He made it very clear that you can’t just throw away the OT.

You seem to have good values, just don’t see the reason any kind of unscientific claims about the supernatural need to be a part of it. Just unnecessary baggage.

All these people saying “use this or use that distro instead” is why Windows users don’t go into Linux. Ubuntu is a solid choice for beginners

You literally did the thing you’re decrying in the very next sentence.

“The problem is everyone telling Windows users which distro to use. Which is why I’m telling them they should just use Ubuntu.”

There’s nothing more quintessentially American than pulling the ladder up behind you.

prole, to asklemmy in What is a beautiful concept or idea that continues to blow your mind?

That’s an incredibly pessimistic way to view the world… I think it’s more accurate to say that people have the capacity for both good and evil. I’m not sure that you can say that “most everyone you know” are immoral or evil. That’s quite the claim.

Though we would also have to explore what “immoral,” and “evil” actually mean. Am I immoral for purchasing and using a cell phone made with materials that were obtained through means that destroy lives and damage ecosystems?

The modern world is far too complex and interconnected for people to avoid doing things that could be considered immoral or unethical.

Mary Magdalene. It’s never explicitly stated in the canonical Bible (as if that means anything), but they were very close.

prole, (edited ) to lemmybewholesome in In 1969, Mr. Rogers testified before U.S. Congress to get funding for public broadcasting. Senator John Pastore is initially abrasive but is won over by Mr. Rogers' warmth and kindness.

Nowadays, he’d just get shouted down by the likes of Jim Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Greene about being “woke” for telling kids they’re special. Probably wouldn’t have even let him finish his statement.
