puppy,

Yep Microsoft giving up was a real shame. I was never a fan of IE or Edge but having more independent choices is always better for users.

I hope someday we'll find a way to pirated a car (lemmy.world)

In the end, the KIA car company made its cars into subscription models, I really hate this because in the end the car we buy with our own money doesn’t feel like it belongs to us. Should we finally buy an old school car ? so as not to be affected by this subscription models or is there a way to crack the software installed in...

puppy,

Hahah. If the commentor just went “you’re right, I just changed my mind”. That itself would make the OP some pause 😂

Firefox on Android and its many derivatives (I use Fennec) have uBlock Origin as a browser extension.

puppy,

I think they aren’t billionaires precisely because they worked for the good of the internet/knowledge.

If they indeed became billionaires that would imply that how they conduct themselves had completely been altered along with their core beliefs.

puppy,

I just double checked top 20 posts sorted by “hot”. Only 2 has any relation to Software. Zero posts relating to Linux. Is there a particular post you have in mind?

puppy, (edited )

TIL. Thanks OP. I have been using “vi” followed by “x” followed by “i” all this time.

This package of bagels I bought expired on a date that doesn't exist. (i.imgur.com)

I originally posted this on the other site back when I took the picture, and it resulted in a lot of confused comments, especially from Americans, eventually getting removed by overzealous mods. Either way, I promise you that this date does not exist, and has never existed.

puppy,
  1. Last time I spoke a date. When I speak it’s either February 23rd or 2023 February 23rd.
  2. Yes.
puppy,

Yes.

puppy,

IGN for trailers. Gamer Nexus for hardware related things and benchmarks.

puppy,

WinGet is an AppGet rip-off without even a mention of the original creator. I’m still salty about that.

puppy,

terrorist threat that has manifested itself time and time again

You mean Israeli occupation inside Palestinian borders?

puppy,

Linux needs constant babysitting? Hmm I wonder why the majority of the internet servers is Linux not Windows. Even in critical infrastructure where stability is valued, not cost.

However you can’t choose a bad distro (bad for your needs that is) ans expect a flawless experience. When I read your first sentence I expected you to be a video editor or in a field where the industry standard software is only limited to Windows. But if your a developer it’s 100% your fault. I am running Linux for over a decade with zero problems. Only time when I had a problem, I was running Arch (btw) and updating the system blindly, daily.

The year of the DESKTOP Linux. Linux has already won everywhere else.

This might throw array index out of bounds errors.

puppy,

Please describe depression. And please ELI5.

Random thought: Windows is largely successful because of Piracy

Windows as a software package would have never been affordable to individuals or local-level orgs in countries like India and Bangladesh (especially in the 2000’s) that are now powerhouses of IT. Same for many SE Asian, Eastern European, African and LatinoAmerican countries as well....

puppy,

Same with South Asia. That’s how the independent resellers do it. The authorised resellers either mark up the price for the Windows license or sell without an OS for a reduced price.

How is it communism? What makes a thing communist as opposed to capitalist?

puppy, (edited )

The soap company wasn’t going to give it up for the Tide pods, you know?

puppy,

Sadly common worldview among societies with “culture and history”. Ironically this culture of monogamy and being so sexually prude is a result of Western colonisation. These are Christian ideals, not necessarily the ideals of Buddhism or Hinduism (Remember Temples of Kama Sutra, anyone?). While the colonies have stuck with 1800s, the colonisers have moved on.

puppy,

Take on step further and also disable capturing location from the camera app. But also additionally remove metadata before uploading.

BTW we are waiting for your pupper’s picture OP.

puppy,

I am not a fan of other workouts but I LOVE cycling. Wind in my face, sightseeing, ability to push harder or just cruise to catch my breath makes it really enjoyable IMO.
