reverendsteveii,

jay-feg

Babe wake up, new pointless acronym controversy just dropped

reverendsteveii,

Its a 6 sided bear, the peak of the polygonal phylogeny.

Monomouse

Duodugong

Traye-aye

Quadferret

Pentacoyote

Hexbear

Heptaherpeton - this is the furthest we’ve discovered in the polygonal phylogeny but research indicates the likely existence of an octorca as well

reverendsteveii,

we’ve had in the past

we definitely still have slavery in America. Like, in America. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of companies that outsource their slavery to other countries and then ship the product here so we can pretend it’s not made by slaves, but plenty of companies skip the middle man and just use slaves here

reverendsteveii,

lower unemployment

Doesn’t matter, I can only have two, maybe three jobs at once so any more than that is irrelevant to me

higher growth

I get the same $8/hr whether the GDP goes up, stays the same or goes down. You can’t leave workers out of the distribution of wealth and then pretend that more wealth is good for workers

reverendsteveii,

you should buy a car assembly someone who is absolutely exhausted and has exactly no reason to give a fuck. Because freedom.

reverendsteveii,

vegan food isn’t expensive. artificial meat replacements are expensive, because you’re paying someone to chemically torture plants until they vaguely remind you of animals. lentils, beans, and other awesome-tasting protein sources are dirt cheap. vegan-first dishes are great and really cheap.

reverendsteveii,

It’s interesting that while you were making this up you couldn’t decide whether your kid was vegetarian or vegan. You’d think with cooking two separate meals every night you’d be familiar with the difference.

reverendsteveii,

Lol I eat meat but knock yourself out there hero

reverendsteveii,

Absolutely this. I eat meat, but I really like veg* cooking. I feel like it challenges me in the kitchen and there’s a whole world of veg* dishes especially in mediterranean/middle eastern, south asian and east asian cooking that are just amazing. But the number of wide-eyed vegans who have handed me a lump of some sort of isolated vegetable protein and insisted repeatedly that “it tastes just like meat, you’ll never know” makes me wonder if vegans can actually taste food. I’m sorry, Kaiyleigh, nothing you do to that tofu is gonna make it taste “just like a hot dog”. How about you press it, cube it, roll it in some seasoned corn starch and fry it until it’s a delicious golden brown crunchy little nugget of tofu instead? Let it be what it is rather than trying to force it to be something that it’s not. Either you’re lying to yourself, you’re lying to me or you physically cannot detect flavor compounds with your tongue.

tldr - fuck a vegan, but I’d love another bowl of that lentil dal

reverendsteveii,

In fairness, it’s really easy to act like a badass in front of…am I reading that right, some hypothetical guy in Costco who told his daughter she’s not a real vegan?

reverendsteveii, (edited )

Once again, because it’s come up so many times in this thread, not at all vegan, definitely omnivorous, just not someone who assumes their membership in the majority defines them as a victim unlike the coward Wage_slave@lemmy.ml

reverendsteveii,

luckily the showrunners were around to finish the job

reverendsteveii,

Horseshit. If your editor doesn’t catch the article that says “have the peasants considered suicide as a way out of debt bondage?” then you as a news outlet should absolutely have to live with what you published.

So long... I'll not be returning (lemmy.ml)

I’ve used most available services, but discontinued one after another along with promises that a better user experience will be provided with reduced content and removed functionality with the slight price hike. YouTube was my first and last video service I paid for, only Spotify remains on the borderline.

reverendsteveii,

but are they willing to go so far as to condemn the others? when someone gets behind a pulpit and says that we need to be murdered in the street, do they say “that man is not a christian” or “my brother and I don’t agree on everything”? those are the ones I’m talking about, the people that believe what they believe, but find it more important to avoid conflict than to do what’s right.

reverendsteveii,

This is the first Christian church I’ve ever seen that has been willing to respond to the violent rhetoric of other churches with something strong than “Oh, well, everyone is entitled to their beliefs”. They need and deserve our critical support.

reverendsteveii,

The public is going to pay them regardless. The money for wages has to come from what customer’s spend. Being said, I agree with you wholeheartedly because tipping is a leverage point that enables a lot of racism, sexism and sexual harassment.

reverendsteveii,

Lithium doesn’t have any energy in it. Lithium batteries store energy generated by other sources. This will have no effect on oil drilling.

reverendsteveii,

It’s in the watershed of a major tributary to the snake river. This isn’t a matter of what goes on a few miles from the dig site. I grew up along a creek with mine runoff in it. After a big enough rainstorm it wasn’t uncommon to see a bunch of dead fish and frogs and such. Yellow foam on the water all the time. There will be a cost to this.

reverendsteveii,

Uplifting unless you live in that watershed.

reverendsteveii,

How do you think those same people in that posh neighborhood would describe how eminem dressed in the early 2000s?

reverendsteveii,

this, but in a way that’s not flippant and dismissive.
