My First Regular Expressions

I’ve been reading Mastering Regular Expressions by Jeffrey E.F. Friedl, and since nobody in my life (aside from my wife) cares, I thought I’d share something I’m pretty proud of. My first set of regular expressions, that I wrote myself to manipulate the text I’m working with....

rustyricotta,

I stumbled upon this regex crossword puzzle a while back. I was never good enough to get it, but it seems like it could be fun.

rustyricotta,

If that one doesn’t tickle you, we do have more options to explore like MM/YY/DD or DD/YY/MM

Hell, we even have options like MDY/MDY

rustyricotta,

This becomes even more cute when you consider the very real possibility that she made the cake specifically to have an excuse to come visit.

rustyricotta,

I’ve always liked underscores better because it differentiates from the file extension. It just makes sense. Except it is a wider character, so it’d be longer.

rustyricotta,

Not particularly cringey, but I started saying howdy for the giggles, and here I am now with it as one of my go-to greetings.

rustyricotta,

Also BEWARE of dihydrogen monoxide. It’s in every cup of water that you drink no matter where you got the water from. It’s all over the world. Nobody is safe.

rustyricotta,

And you can pay for and print your pictures after the ride/appointment.

rustyricotta,

Indeed. To quote more of the bible:

James 2:26 (kjv) “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”

rustyricotta,

The facts became so undeniable that they’re forced to accept that things are changing, but now they insist that the changes are absolutely not related to our environmental fuckery but are a natural thing.

rustyricotta,

At first I read it as “Gray Water” and thought it was a terrible idea.

rustyricotta,

It’s been a couple years since I tried maining Linux (Ubuntu). The state of Linux gaming was definitely less than today. Back then, Apex Legends that I played with friends didn’t support Linux yet.

Probably the main reasons for me personally is that I was dual booting from a secondary SSD, so Windows was just always there to switch to if I ran into Linux hiccups I didn’t want to deal with. Also I remember the secondary SSD was only 256gb so I ran into some problems with that.

As for what’s preventing me from switching today

  • I’ve heard Linux VR isn’t quite there yet.
  • Switching over is just a big task I don’t want to deal with right now. It could be done, but I’m currently entrenched in Windows. I want to eventually.
