My apartment complex uses a package delivery service that basically acts as a middle man to receive your packages and deliver it to you. They use contractors who pick up packages from their warehouse and deliver them door-to-door. As expected, it’s common for packages to get lost/stolen. Instead of getting your package on the date/time promised, you have to wait several more hours for it to actually arrive. If it gets to the warehouse late in the afternoon, you’ll get it the next day. If you have Amazon next-day delivery, you essentially negate it with this service. If you’re expecting perishable items, good luck getting it fresh. If your package is large or heavy, you’ll have to wait several days as they only deliver oversized packages on specific days. All these are mandatory with a fee ranging from $10 to $30 on top of rent.
Use fans in the summer. You can keep your thermostat at 77-78 during the day and still feel comfy. The issue of why you feel hot is not because 77 is hot, it’s because air is not moving. Having a fan on keeps the air circulating in your apartment, making it more comfortable without using too much energy; instead of relying on your AC to move air around by lowering the thermostat so it keeps turning on.
Blackout shades also work to cool down your apartment, not just keep light out. Put them on windows facing west to keep sunlight out during the hottest time of the day.
Assuming you’re in the US, no one was banning you from traveling or gathering with loved ones. There was nothing close to an actual lockdown that was implemented in the US. Losing income is a different story. Coming in to work and endangering other people’s health without their consent is not acceptable. Not to mention that most antivaxxers are antimaskers as well, which made it worse. If you purposely do not take the necessary precautions to keep other people around you safe, then you shouldn’t be working there. That applies to anything, not just Covid.
On the other hand, more people might take it seriously when they see infected people bleeding from all orifices. Then again, with all the crazy shit covid deniers have done/said, who knows? They’d probably still blame 5G.
Yep. Servers in the US already have miserable work lives, and having to put on a smile and fake niceness because your take home pay depends on how much you get in tips is just terrible.
