shortwavesurfer,

You did the link right, but i would put “this fun thread” as the link to make ot easier to tap or click.

shortwavesurfer,

I just use my notes app and the letter “x” Two denote whether that thing has been paid already. I use a method called the Dave Ramsey every dollar method where every dollar has a purpose and you budget in such a way that absolutely every single dollar you get has a job. So, I get paid, and then my bank account is nearly empty two days later, but every dollar has done its job. I know that there are unexpected expenses, so a few dollars are miscellaneous, and their job is just to cover the $5 subscription that comes out quarterly, I forgot, etc.

shortwavesurfer,

From what I understand, mull is more privacy-centric than fennec. However, I don’t use it because I had trouble accessing some websites with it.

shortwavesurfer,

I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and really like it.

shortwavesurfer,

Once the fossify apps are on fdroid i will be moving to them

shortwavesurfer,

I use osmand in conjunction with gps-coordinates.net so I can get the GPS coordinates of addresses to put into osmand since it has a serious lack of addresses

shortwavesurfer,

I highly suspect it’s a lack of contributors since I live in a small city in the United States (~50k population).

shortwavesurfer,

Technically, yes, it is encrypted. However, Facebook still gets metadata on who you talk to, when you talk to them, how long you talk to them, your contact information, etc. As an example, if you talked to your girlfriend, then you talked to her doctor, and then you talked to your mom. There’s a good chance that your girlfriend may be pregnant, even if I did not know what was said. Or, if I know you are at the top of a bridge and that you contacted a suicide hotline… So just because it is encrypted does not mean it is safe.

shortwavesurfer,

This made me laugh. Thanks

shortwavesurfer,

If you can contribute, that would be great. Especially business names and addresses. The best thing I have found to do is get an address from a place via the internet and plug that into gps-coordinates.net and use the first 7 numbers like 31.12345 -82.12345 into osmand when navigating. Then when i arrive i add it to osm so nobody can claim i stole data from another mapping service.

shortwavesurfer,

Its pretty nice. I am using it for a couple groups. It has some screen reader accessibility issues, but the devs are responsive and fix them as i find them.

shortwavesurfer,

Monero, as for wallets Monero.com and Monerujo are your best bets for now.

shortwavesurfer,

No, there is a monero.com wallet on play store play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.monero.… and on fdroid via a custom repository. Its on the IOS app store as well if you own one of those apps.apple.com/us/app/…/id1601990386

shortwavesurfer,

Strange. Mine is not doing that. Hopefully it gets fixed for you.

Privacy benefits of Custom roms

So recently my moto G60 reached the end of life with respect to security updates. That was the reason I was using to prevent myself from switching to a custom rom(actual reason is laziness). This phone has rom support for pixel experience and lineage OS. So my questions are if pixel experience has any privacy advantages when...

shortwavesurfer,

If you use gapps you basically screw the privacy benifits. Use yourbank.com from a browser or get a new bank

shortwavesurfer,

Its better than using gapps for sure

shortwavesurfer, (edited )

That might be kind of difficult because each post is going to be different depending on instance, so there won’t be one universal link to it. What I would do is post a link to the community like this “/c/CommunityName@instance.tld”

Edit: as an example, this community for me is monero.town/c/lemmy_support@lemmy.ml which i can shorten to /c/lemmy_support@lemmy.ml

shortwavesurfer,

Okay, let me know how that works out for you.

Am I running the risk of getting my Google account banned for logging into the Aurora Store or a custom rom like GrapheneOS?

I guess there is no need to introduce what a Degoogled phone is (or a custom ROM without google services, like GrapheneOS is) and the Aurora Store is basically said in a crude way the Google Playstore but without the need to log in to your Google account, quite useful in my opinion....

shortwavesurfer,

Yeah, don’t do this. People have had their Google accounts banned already for logging in, and I’m certain you don’t want to be another one.

shortwavesurfer,

I will be honest, I have never understood the point of this service because of the domains. It’s like, why would I want that as my email address?

shortwavesurfer,

If you want to be sure, what I would do is host it on my local machine and not use a typical domain, but set up and run it as an onion over tor.

(Please see comments)Alternatives to Signal if they exit EU due to ending E2EE

Like the title states looking for E2EE apps (Android and iOS) without going into much details or needs to be robust enough and easy to use for anyone and stable for operations that are susceptible to constant electronic warfare. I did some research and thought about replacing Signal with Molly and wondering if it will still work...

shortwavesurfer,

What about session? It appears to connect to a peer-to-peer network and use onion routing in order to send and receive messages, does not require any kind of identification like a phone number, etc.

shortwavesurfer,

You do have a good point, but from what I understand anyway, they would only get messages from the previous 14 days, but nothing before then.

shortwavesurfer,

I would never ever take an adjustable rate mortgage. That is just begging to get fucked. Like right now for example. My mortgage is like 4.2% but if it were an adjustable id be at like 6+% and be out of a house.
