R/pics is also refusing to go down without a fight, and I’m kind of loving watching all this from the sidelines.

Reddit already got caught using ChatGPT to astroturf in posts supporting the admins, so I wonder if some of the people the mods mentioned popping in for drama are actually ChatGPT.

So they’re getting rid of coins and awards, but don’t have any kind of replacement actually planned yet?

They should have held off until they knew what the replacement would be. As it is, they’re yanking something that made Reddit unique for…what, exactly?

Iirc, you can follow them from lemmy. Kbin will let you interact because they show up in a special “microblog” area, but I’m not sure how lemmy handles it.

There aren’t any kbin apps yet, but there are a few in development. The one furthest along is Artemis, and it’s in closed beta testing. @ArtemisApp

I think a LOT of folks overlook point 2. Kbin.social was a halting mess for a few days during the Blackout, because they had to enable Cloudflare to keep the servers from imploding on themselves. There still aren’t that many kbin instances yet, and more instances is how you handle large influxes. The platform needs time to stabilize before large groups of Redditors come over.

Absolutely same here. Because I use Mastodon a lot, I heard about kbin when it first came out, and poked over to look at it, but decided it was a bit too empty and rough around the edges, and stuck with Reddit. Then came the Blackout, and I went ahead and made an account.

As Reddit gets more enshittified and kbin and lemmy get more polished and active, we’ll start seeing a bigger shift.

I really just do not get why he thinks Elon Musk has it right idea, only isn’t going far enough. And it’s the board has just decided in for a penny, in for a pound and are determined to stick with him even if Reddit burns to the ground. I wonder what metrics they’re seeing that we aren’t, besides dollar signs.
