I’ve been using Gentoo since 2004, every now and then I pop a distro DVD ISO into a VM to see what all the hubbub is about, but I doubt I’ll ever switch to another distro unless Gentoo dies.
My point is, sans diatribe, pop a distro ISO into a VM and see if it even seems like something you’d like.
You don’t have to do any more than that, keep using what makes you happy.
Guys, calm down, it’s been garbage the whole time, it’s your attachment to the movie you had when you watched them at an impressionable age that makes them feel better to you.
Can’t relate to your latter paragraph, I am all too keen to be away from my family, I moved to the PNW 6 years ago, it’s got it’s problems, I love it here, though, might retire towards the coast if I can eventually afford it.
My favorite part about GIMP is that after the thousands and thousands of hours people have spent developing it, it still can’t compete with software from the 1990s, that is to say, it’s complete shit, they should start from scratch at this point, perhaps aiming low like competing against 1990s MS Paint.
There’s no way they could compete with MS Paint today >_>
