So long... I'll not be returning (lemmy.ml)

I’ve used most available services, but discontinued one after another along with promises that a better user experience will be provided with reduced content and removed functionality with the slight price hike. YouTube was my first and last video service I paid for, only Spotify remains on the borderline.

Based on the screenshot I assume that you used youtube premium lite (what ever this was…) on your smartphone. Therefore, here the obligatory recommendation for NewPipe. Quasi Youtube Premium as apk. It has all the features you need:

  • no ads
  • you can close the app and your videos keep running in the background
  • you can turn off the screen and your videos will continue to run in the background

There is also the fork NewPipe x SponsorBlock (link to repository) which integrates SponsorBlock into the app. (duh…) This will also skip the creator’s ad blocks in the video.

Lower part of the screen is updated one frame earlier. Signal source: HDMI (pixelfed.social)

The lower part of my screen is updated one frame earlier than the upper part. I was able to isolate the error to the HDMI output of my laptop. The screen or cable is not broken, as I don’t get these errors with other connected devices. I am assuming it is some hardware defect. Does anyone know what it could be and how I could...

a monitor with g-sync/freesync, turn that on

no the monitor does not have this feature,

try to turn on v-sync

I did and it does not change anything.

Edit: I want to add that this problem occurred from one day to the next. I’m using Jellyfin as playback, but this effect even occurs when moving windows over the screen

Solved: Ok, it seems to have been a software problem. That had to do with the sync. I have installed ubuntu on the laptop for now and everything works again. Some update seems to have shot something. I am now using a
