South Africa: Major energy crisis

Global: ADHD drug shortage

My university dual booted Windows 10 and Ubuntu (science department computer labs only)

All the other departments just had Windows 10, except for Engineering, which used Windows 7 for some fucking reason. I hope I’m remembering wrong.

tourist, to asklemmy in Is there a forum for people who are lonely and sad but specifically not incel sickos?
@tourist@lemmy.world avatar

a forum to commiserate and share advice and coping mechanisms and so on.

Speaking for myself here, but I feel like this can make the problem worse. /r/depression is something in a similar vein. Whenever I went there, I’d always leave sadder. There’s something about reading other people’s struggles that just seemed to reinforce my own sense of hopelessness.

Also, bad advice on those kinds of forums can look extremely reasonable if your perception of the world is clouded by your problems.

I know it doesn’t work for everyone, but give therapy a shot if you haven’t already.

Like others have said, having a friend that you see regularly can help with loneliness. Doesn’t even have to be strangers. Try messaging an old friend you drifted apart from. Odds are they’d be happy to catch up.

Sorry for the unsolicited advice. I know this isn’t the type of response you asked for. I hope everything works out for you, bud.

I have a strong suspicion that 90% of that shit is not being backed up. If a server gets deleted for whatever reason, all the documentation is extra gone with a side of never coming back.

No wayback machine, no wget, no open source. Add in server moderators can go rogue or get hacked at any given time. Recipe for catastrophic shitshows

True. The things they say about the ATF and FBI would make you think they’re extremely anti-police, but then you notice they never badmouth the DEA or ICE even though they inflict the exact same kind of brutality on the civilian population.

But because the FBI arrests white supremacists and the ATF sends you a fine for engraving a punisher logo over your AR15’s serial number, they’re the worst.

It never ended

I’m guessing the lack of ADHD medication led some of those in charge of solving the problems to procrastinate.

I didn’t check Baldur’s Gate communities until a few months after it came out, but I love how everyone casually just calls her Shart. Everyone instinctively knows what it means. No questions necessary. No objections.

tourist, to linux in Which terminal emulator do you use?
@tourist@lemmy.world avatar

If you’re allowed to install WSL on your work machine, they recently (I think recently) added GUI support for linux applications.

If you install kitty on a WSL distro, you can use it like any other windows program.

You can access your windows file system from /mnt/

I don’t really know how they do the virtualization, so you may lose a lot of the performance benefits that kitty has.

Very clunky workaround, but it’s an option.
