No repo? Welp, looks like I can’t package it for Nix.

velox_vulnus,

OP is the dev for both Jerboa and Lemmy, btw.

velox_vulnus,

Oh no, dearie, you lost your fake internet points? I feel so sad for you…not.

velox_vulnus, (edited )

Bro, what?

I drink sachet coffee worth one rupee, with thin, water-added milk.

How the fuck are you all communist with these fancy, expensive machines, high-grade beans and thick cream?

Edit: yes, I drink the powder too. Too poor to afford filter paper.

Thank you for adding a link to how r/bakchodi (fuck u/spez) was created, but I think it’s missing some important details. Somewhere over r/librandu (fuck u/spez) is an archive about the same. Stealing it shamelessly from a deleted Reddit (fuck u/spez) user:

Bakchodi was initially created as an Indian circlejerk sub way before the others. It was a time when randia had a modi fetish (ikr). But then after randia turned against their overlords and established military junta, fleeing refugee proto-chodes joined bakchodi to protest against the dictatorship at India’s official sub. This continued for a few years but then a based mod and officer of the internet did an Order 66 and purged them all leaving them to create the infestation of roaches known as r/chodi

Too bad, but looks like r/bakchodi (fuck u/spez) has also gone to shit.

Installies, a site for managing, organizing, and retrieving shell scripts for installing things on Linux and Unix-based operating systems. (installies.org)

Hi, for the past few months I have been working on my website Installies. It is a site for managing, organizing, and retrieving shell scripts for use to install, remove, update or compile apps on Linux and Unix-based systems....

This thing will simply fail on an alternative filesystem layout, something to be mindful about. For mainstream FHS distro, it’ll work fine.

velox_vulnus, (edited )

I can’t afford any of them, but at least I know I know what they’re - star projectors.

velox_vulnus, (edited )

Here’s the reason why you were banned (open this on a browser).

You’re spreading a bunch of low-grade conspiracy nonsense related to climate geo-engineering - something about chemtrail (this is the first time I am hearing about this weird conspiracy, so I do not know the exact depth and width of what other nonsense you might believe in).

Any mod would want to do their due diligence to not make their users look like a bunch of lunatics. In my opinion, they have done their job properly. Misinformation is at it’s highest, you need to learn to verify your sources first.

You can appeal for an account restoration in the Matrix server, but is it worth the effort? Just make a new account, and don’t repeat the conspiracy shenanigans.

What did I just read? And I thought I grew in a country with a conservative society.

Engaging in stereotypes is an immature behaviour. The world isn’t all black and white.

And what the heck is a wifey material? You’re a grown man, right? I’m pretty sure you can cook your own food, mop your own floor, wash your own clothes and buy your inventory. Why do you need a woman for that?

Goth and bimbocore are just subcultures that deviate from the norm. Remove all of that, and what remains behind is a woman. It does not make them a bad mother, a bad cook, a bad home-keeper or a bad life-partner.

In Hinglish, we have this saying: “Pehle slutty-savitri, phir sati-savitri”. This phrase essentially criticizes the hypocrisy of men who manipulate and exploit women for their own desires but then seek “pure” wives for marriage. This applies to you.

You can use Eternity for the time being. Jerboa is broken for 0.19.0. The software has not even passed the 1.0.0 mark, so this behavior is understandable.

velox_vulnus,

There’s a lack of contributors. Honestly, if not for the stupid recession and joblessness, I would have loved to dive into Guix packaging.

I feel like Punjabi cuisine is over-represented in the west, especially the first one. Almost every “Trying out Indian dish” video is Eastern Punjabi stuff, there’s hardly any Pakistani or alt-North Indian stuff. Not saying that it is bad, but that’s kind of like eating greasy American stuff - eating donuts and cheeseburgers once in a while is fine, but too much is just not good from a health-perspective.

What’s sad is that you folks haven’t tried Marathi dishes - I had the privilege of visiting Satara and Lonavla, which are two amazing places in Maharashtra, which is extremely under-rated - surprisingly, it is also very much under-represented in Mumbai, perhaps due to the influx of North Indian migrants. Yes, most of it is spicy, even by Indian standards, but they’re amazing. Especially Srikhand and Sabudana Khicdhi (sabudana pearls are made of tapioca, but they’re transparent-coloured, instead of being black like boba pearls). I’d also give a thumbs up to Konkani, Malabari and also (our) Mangalorean cuisine - my favourite being the Udupi-style Masala Dosae paired with Bringal-Moringa Sambar, and also the classic Sheera-Upma combo.

100% vanilla distribution challenge

what does this consist of? Well, it’s easy, whenever you install a new distribution of Linux, don’t customise anything, nothing please!! Out of the box experience, you may install software but that’s all. And if you are already using a customised distro, then delete the .config file and reboot, but please be careful and...

velox_vulnus, (edited )

The .config folders have important files, like git config. With that being the exception, most of my config files are empty. I have the most Vanilla GNOME setup. My setup is so vanilla, it is also missing the contrast hi-color logos, which is added by default in Fedora in multiple applications, like Firefox or Inkscape.

velox_vulnus,

I’m not an expert on Wayland vs Xorg, but don’t you think it is unfair to not let a new protcol be given some time to improve?

velox_vulnus,

I might be wrong somewhere, but think of Hurd server as an orchestrator, which runs atop the GNU/Mach microkernel, as opposed to monolithic kernels like BSD and Linux.

It’s an OS that’s still not in existence - I mean, well, technically, it is, the QEMU images, as well as Debian/Arch ISOs are available on the internet, but the Mach microkernel is slow, which is a blocker, so they’re looking into alternative ones.

velox_vulnus,

In this article by itsfoss.com, it says that systemd has better boot time, so I’m confused now - does systemd have a poor boot speed? Or is this, compared to modern init system alternatives?

velox_vulnus, (edited )

Thank you, this answers some of my doubts but what about service compatibility across distros? Say, I want to use GNOME Shell or KDE. Since I’m assuming that they were made with systemd as the default, will this come with some learning cost, if I had to make it work on shepherd? And what will I lose from my switch to systemd, at least from a user perspective, if not from a package maintainers’?

velox_vulnus, (edited )

I’ve gone inside an entirely new rabbit-hole now after reading the HyperbolaBSD Announcement page. Honestly, I’m blank now.

velox_vulnus,

I’m going to install Linux Mint on a VM and see what’s going wrong with yours. But when you’re dealing with older native package managers, you’ll come across packages that litter your desktop. This isn’t the case with modern ones like NixOS or Guix, however. I see that you’re adhering to UNIX philosophy, in which case, you should use independent distros like Devuan, Hyperbola, etc.

velox_vulnus,

Not a lot, to be honest.

a-city-near-to-where-i-used-to-live

velox_vulnus,

Yes. It used to be around 27°C, but you know, climate change and stuff. The temperature in my hometown is around 35 °C.

velox_vulnus, (edited )

Personally, not a fan of widgety desktop because cognitive overload. I’m more into the retro look.

I think you should give this a read. This should convince you to switch to a bidet towel. What I’m surprised about, is that you fail to see how regenerating forests is more difficult than regenerating water. It is very hard to repair the uprooted ecosystem. And no, new trees can not solve climate crisis. You can substitute an eco-friendly detergent. You can clean multiple bidet towels together. Forests, however, takes years to grow, changes in the eco-system can lead to ecological disturbances, and it has to be monitored carefully. This is not the case with water being contaminated with detergent - excess phosphates can cause eutrophication of algae.
