Proton Mail CEO Calls New Address Verification Feature 'Blockchain in a Very Pure Form' (tech.slashdot.org)

Proton Mail, the leading privacy-focused email service, is making its first foray into blockchain technology with Key Transparency, which will allow users to verify email addresses. From a report: In an interview with Fortune, CEO and founder Andy Yen made clear that although the new feature uses blockchain, the key technology...

volleyballcrocodile,

Is your suggestion to self host your email or not use email? I’m not sure why you couldn’t find a company that you do trust, and proton seems to be one of the most likely candidates.

volleyballcrocodile,

I suppose that’s a fair point, although I thought they didn’t have access to your data in terms of email content. I agree with the point about not putting all your eggs in one basket but I’d seriously consider them for email only.

volleyballcrocodile,

I use the last Swype apk with network access blocked in NetGuard, because I can’t go without swipe typing. The personal dictionary still works.

volleyballcrocodile,

There’s currently Windows Mail on Win10 and 11, it’s also not too bad.

Outlook is a nightmare.

volleyballcrocodile,

Oh I did not know that!

If you would like a more technical explanation search for CG-NAT. It allows ISP’s to share a single static public facing IP with several customers at once.

If you had a true static IP that never changed you’ve only see results about torrents downloaded using your router.

What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I am in an intense love-hate relationship with Spotify. It makes good mixes for me, I have found a lot of great bands that way. BUT IT KEEPS REGURGITATING THE SAME SONGS IN THERE. I know about Song Radios and Artist Radios, so please don’t recommend those. Smart Shuttle doesn’t cut it, either....

volleyballcrocodile,

I’m always shocked by how quickly a large music collection seems to get stale for me.

I dislike the way spotify seems to push certain songs, but I love that I hear stuff I’ve never heard a lot of the time.
