weeeeum, to asklemmy in whats a song you heard for the first time recently that gave you a powerful reaction?

Go. By Asia (English band).

By coincidence the first time I ever listened to it was being hospitalized for suicidal thoughts, and the last song I listened to before being hospitalized (you don’t have your phone).

As such it sort of felt like fate, like it was supposed to happen, especially considering the lyrics of the song and the context of being dragged to god knows where. The lyrics really struck deep.

Lyrics if you don’t want to listen to it

Dig for victory, go for gold I don’t want to die before I get old And I wonder where I’m going to There’s some way out, there’s some way through But I’m lost, I’m lost, I’m down again My direction is changing, which way, Which way can I go…

weeeeum, to asklemmy in How do I reduce the squeaking of my faux leather sofa?

Sprinkle a very thin layer of cornstarch, just enough to make it stop but not so that it’s noticeable.

weeeeum, to asklemmy in What's the significance of calling it "Israel-Hamas War" vs "Israel-Gaza War"?

To me it’s who’s trying to kill who. Hamas (the group) wants to destroy Israel, Israel in turn wants to destroy Hamas, not Gaza (this part is actually very subjective)

weeeeum, (edited ) to asklemmy in What makes a smartphone useful to you?

Honestly the dedicated shutter button on my Sony Xperia. I have ADHD and I want to remember something I press the button and take an immediate picture. At work I use this function constantly. I’m a repair technician and it’s really nice to take a picture of a model number instead of having to cross reference between the computer screen and the computer I’m trying to fix.

Listening to music is also good.

I can’t believe I forgot this but GOOGLE. Anytime, anywhere you just have to know something, or learn how to do something you can immediately search it up.

Gps is also pretty nice

weeeeum, to asklemmy in Lemmy, recommend me a good budget Android phone please

I would also look into getting a flagship phone from a couple years ago, I find that they can be a lot nicer than a budget or mid range phone.

I’m using a Sony Xperia 1 III and I love it to bits. Bought it brand new for over 1000$ and 2 years after its release you can find it for 500$, refurbished with warranty, in excellent condition.

weeeeum, to asklemmy in What cheap tool/gadget do you use that greatly improves your daily life?

What I do to mediate that is sticking in the floss pick, turning it and pulling it out while under tension and whatever it doesn’t get will be removed by brushing. My dentist told me I have very healthy teeth (I actually don’t even brush very consistently (please don’t do this even though it happened to work out for me (I was depressed, just listen to your dentist))). I also floss the gap between each tooth twice, once applying pressure to one side and vice versa.

I also thought that too and I’ve been looking for a reusable one now. I bought one but it’s too much of a hassle and frankly takes more time to change floss than actually flossing (have to unwind, remove from track unwind again, pull floss, rewind, align with track, rewind again and trim)

Floss picks. Flossing is actually more important than brushing and it’s really nice to have a pack of floss picks at your desk so you can floss absent mindedly while watching a video or even in bed.

Honestly this is why I never pay any attention to “uplifting news” communities as it ultimately gets your hopes up for nothing. The bi monthly “revolutionary cure” for cancer is getting pretty damn old too.

weeeeum, to memes in Reddit be like

I also go to the browser drop down settings and change to desktop mode. It’s annoying but once you zoom in a little it’s identical to mobile view lol.
