I rarely missed an episode of their shows over the years. If they both liked a film, I almost always did as well. I much preferred Rogers’s opinions–and personality. Gene always struck me as being kind of a mean grump.

Own a Piece of Hollywood History – Egyptian Theatre Screens Signed by Your Favorite Filmmakers and Actors in Custom-Framed Lucite. (www.charitybuzz.com)

During the renovation process for The Egyptian Theatre, the American Cinematheque salvaged the theater’s original movie screen, and had it divided into pieces. They had each piece of the screen autographed by a top filmmaker or performer and placed in a custom lucite frame, intending to create meaningful keepsakes for film and...

I didn’t take a lot of pictures, but here’s a short vid showing some of the restoration: youtu.be/xYCuATQ_2DY

Possibly my favorite film, full-stop, I’ve watched it probably 50-ish times. I was a little trepidatious about watching this fan edit. It was an odd experience–but in a good way: New, but at the same time, very familiar…

it’s very professionally done–if you were seeing the film for the first time, nothing would feel ‘artificial’ or tacked-on.

A Boomer here, and I’m finding these comments to be very interesting–mostly because I’m realizing I agree in many cases! Far from prudish, just last night I fast-forwarded past the sex scenes in the first episode of a new streamer series. “Yeah, yeah, I get it…you’re hot for each other. Can we move it along, please?”

That’s oddly about the time I started to become disenchanted with most contemporary cinema. Both parents worked in the Industry, dad was a voting member of the Academy for many years. The Oscars were–no exaggeration–the Holiest night on our family calendar. I even got to attend in person once. (The one where Benigni climbed up on the furniture–'99.)

Then THE ARTIST won best picture (2011). 🤦‍♂️

I stopped watching the Oscars completely about 5 years ago. The only enthusiasm I can muster anymore is new films by old masters (PTA, Scorsese, Tarantino, etc.)

I remembered there was a website that provided similar information, and meant to check it out before I saw FLOWER MOON this week–but then spaced on it and never got around to it.

I did–only half joking–offer the ticket-taker $20 if she’d sneak up to the projection booth and hit the off button for 5 minutes to give us all a break.

I would have loved an intermission–as it was I got up around the 1 hour mark and went to the back of the theater and stretched a bit, etc. Turns out tho that my pre-screening hydration schedule worked out perfectly: I didn’t need to leave to pee during the screening.
