Is there a way to make a link to a community of a foreign instance that opens on the instance of the user that clicks on it?...
I’m using Jerboa, I don’t know if it is an app thing or a lack of content thing, but when sorting things by “hot” I only see old posts, should I only see things by new?
Hello fellow lemmites. This whole reddit debacle is really tragic, and I’m looking for alternatives. Problem is, none of the alternatives have subs like r/buteyko or r/becomingtheiceman. Does anybody know of any alternatives with similar subs, if any exist?
With all these new bot instances popping up, have you already seen these accounts actually raiding stuff? And can/do we defederate from those instances?
Hi, I've been unable to ID the pictured capacitor to track down a spec sheet or source. Do any of you folks recognize it? Pictured are two different capacitors that look to be identical except for slightly different markings....
Ok, this is not going to be a well formulated question, because the concerns behind it are nebulous in my own head....
I’ll start: pesto as a bagel topping.
I've fired up my own Lemmy instance, but am keeping it closed right now. It's mainly so I don't contribute to the user load on the more popular instances, but I may open it up to a circle of friends and family at some point in the future....
I’d love to be able to click on a link and have it open in a new tab rather than in the current tab, without having to specifically right-click and tell it to do so. This was the behavior I had set up back on reddit, though I don’t recall if that was a built-in feature or part of RES, and it makes browsing a lot more...
Hi. I just started buteyko method, and it’s supposed to relax you and release nitric oxide when you do it. I did a session earlier, and I started seeing visuals/swirling of colors in my eyes. I’m pretty sure it was the nitric oxide being released. Are there any major side effects to nitric oxide? Could I get super high if my...

I’m mostly interested in tech, but I’m curious to hear your favorite forums for any topics, really! Especially some niche, underrated ones…
I’ll go first You can do it alone but you’ll run into problems. Others that have been through it have solved those problems. Ask around if you recognize a problem and you’ll most likely receive the best solution

I plan on making two videos, one where I explain how Lemmy works and then how to post in a community. I'm going to do my own research but is there any points you want to give to a new user?
When I was a kid, it'd have to be Memorial Day. All the extended family would convene at the old family cemetery to decorate the graves. That isn't the weird thing... the weird thing was we treated it as a family reunion and picnicked together among the head stones.
Would sound stupid as I don't indepth of PeerTube yet but I have heard that PeerTube is federated video sharing platform. I also heard it can't hold much a load which makes sense as HD videos takes lots of load. That begs me the question why don't we use it for small/short videos(not those vertical videos) to build communities...
Your can make up one if you wish too but keep things pg-pg-13 becasue why not, idk. pretend this is an interveiw and try to get hired to join some big superhero company or something....
Lately I received a primergy rx2530 m1, m2 and m4 (all maxed out with ram and cpus) and wonder if and which of them can be driven as energy efficient as any random diy built. I saw plenty of energy saving options on the Bios (cpu and ram related) but do not know how comparable this is with a consumer setup and which ones are...
Rather often, I see a post here with say 5 comments, but I only see one or two under the post. Why is this? Am I perhaps defederated from those posters' instance?

I began noticing on Reddit (official mobile app) that if I hadn’t viewed a community in a while, it would NEVER show up in my feed. I always assumed this was Reddit trying to play “Facebook” BS - safe to assume with Lemmy that won’t be the case?
