I just need to brag that my 3 and a half year old didn't throw a single tantrum this weekend. About 5 months ago he decided he doesn't want to nap anymore(this makes bedtime way easier but I lose my 2 hours of free time in the afternoon), so now he throws tantrums when he's tired but he refuses to nap regardless. So we kept busy...

Took my one kid to a birthday party that was at a McDonald’s Play Place. It was much more organized (in large part thanks to the staff) than anticipated and so far one of the better pre-K parties I’ve been to....

I’ll go first. I’ve used a lot of search engines, I used duckduckgo for quite some time but found their search results kinda bad. I’m currently using ecosia the search results are similar to ddg’s but at least I’m planting trees, so there’s that.

Hey all. Since the Internet has just been boiled down to the main big social media sites, it feels like the magic is gone. Whens the last time someone said to you “hey check out this cool website”? It’s always the same: TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, FB, Reddit, Discord. Forums are basically dead. Chat rooms are dead. Message...

I’m down for more chat rooms, especially the alive and kicking rooms....

I can see that I can follow Lemmy communities from Mastodon (just tried it out with a handful of communities), but I don’t see a way to have it work the other way....

While using the webview, I just navigate to a post then hit back to go to the timeline. On going back, however, the timeline reloads again and involves a somewhat annoying delay and re-rendering of the timeline page....

Some people might find the answer to be obvious (yes) but I’ve rarely found it so. In fact, this is a question I often find in the linux community (regarding linux going mainstream, not lemmy) and people are pretty split upon it....

I am looking for sublemmies I could follow that have no other target than entertainment, like eyebleach, PIC, hummm, dank memes, advice animals, battle station, amateurroomporn, natureismetal, pics of unusual birds, etc. Just nice, interesting and funny thinks to look at or read....

Do you use it? Do you like it? Dislike it? How do you think it compares to the native package manager, or other cross-distro package managers like Snap or Flatpak?

This poem has always helped me keep a level head, stay on my path. I hope it helps someone else too....

I really like to post OC edits, but there seems to be absolutely no great solution. I don’t have the storage space or good internet to self-host PeerTube, catbox.moe seems to be hit or miss, uploading huge video files to an instance is just rude, and YouTube tries to deny the privacy of the viewer and uploader at every turn....
