Please plant seed-bearing trees my allergies are already trying to kill me. The policy of planting only pollen-producing trees has made pollen so bad that it is now a part of the weather forecast!

More! I want to live in a treehouse jungle!

PuddingFeeling907,

I have dreams living in a jungle with electric trains and plant based foods.

iHUNTcriminals,

Let’s do it. I’m gonna order Sequoia seeds right now and throw them everywhere I go!

I think every news headline now can include "in the face of climate change."

papalonian, to upliftingnews in After Maui officials named 388 people unaccounted for in fires, many called to say they're OK

This is really nice in a way I don't really know how to describe. I get a feeling a lot of people that go unaccounted for in these events don't have a lot of people close to them in their lives. It must feel at least a little good to know that someone was looking for you.

I also really like that people are calling to say they're ok. Just an overall excellent display of humanity in a bad situation. Glad those calling in are ok.

This type of thing has been being worked on for awhile and I sorta feel we will have 3d printed at this point by the time this is fully working.

Tolstoshev,

My bet is on the animal organ technology getting to market first. Although the experiments with printing human heart cells on top of the stripped cartilage from a pig’s heart looks promising. Best of both tech.

Drusas, to upliftingnews in Pig kidney works in a donated body for over a month, a step toward animal-human transplants

This seems like it could eventually lead to a lot of pigs suffering if there aren't stringent laws requiring their humane treatment (and considering how things are in the animal agriculture industry, it's a fair bet to say there won't be).

Tolstoshev, (edited )

I think they would be treated better than agricultural pigs because you want the organs in the best health for transplant. If they mistreat the animals then the organs wouldn’t last as long. Although maybe they wouldn’t care since they can charge you for a second replacement later, if it’s done in the fucked up US healthcare system.

My dad worked on the beginnings of this research back in the day. He said the challenge was as soon as you engineered a gene out of the pig to get rid of a protein that would trigger an immune reaction in humans, they’d find another one. So it was whack-a-mole for a while. It’s cool to see this come to fruition as a technology. And just in time for self driving vehicles which will decimate the organ supply.

TigrisMorte, to upliftingnews in Pig kidney works in a donated body for over a month, a step toward animal-human transplants

It is a step toward farming poor People's organs is what it is.

    Rouxibeau,

If they lose too many organs they may end up with a chainsaw demon in their chest.
