Fuck Communism and fuck unchecked capitalism. People deserve basic human rights. Free heallthcare, education, insurance and liveable basic income is a must. It doesn’t make your society full of freeloaders instead it gives all the people a chance to become what they want in the society. I hope that people can see this basic difference and we can work towards for a better future as humanity instead of whatever country title.

geissi,

Fuck Communism and fuck unchecked capitalism

Interesting how capitalism needs the qualifier ‘unchecked’ while apparently communism has only one possible form.

Remember, kids:

  1. Check your mirrors
  2. Set your blinker
  3. Turn your damn head and look
  4. Change lanes / Turn

Also, if you’re turning:
Set your blinker to let others know what you plan on doing before you brake.

meltylikecheese,

You should go in tour in the South giving seminars. In NY you will guaruntee get pulled for not signaling a turn or a lane change. In Mississippi, where I am now, the only blinkers are the ones that got hit by accident at the last turn, in a car that’s been going straight for the last 10 miles, with a driver going 15mph under the speed limit getting visibly frustrated trying to figure out what that dadgum ticking noise is. I had a cop almost hit me the other day changing lanes with no blinker.

The highest honor is giving the program a keybind

Knusper,

Super+F -> Firefox
Super+R -> Terminal
Super+E -> File Manager
Super+X -> Note-taking program

Classy,

Holy shit why did I never do this before.

I tried Linux and all the keybinding was a lot of fun, I gotta do it more with windows. I built my own specialized keyboard for inputting chords when I’m writing lyric sheets and I set CTRL+Tab as the keybind to switch between that and QWERTY.

Knusper,

I do composing, too, and I’ve written my fair share of shoddy scripts to automate tasks, but changing up the whole keyboard layout for a task, that’s the sort of madness I aspire to. 🙃

Classy,

I actually think this is slightly out of date, I combined Aug and dim into its own key with Shift for Alt, and maybe for flat/sharp, too?

flashgnash,

T is terminal for me, R would be to just run a single command in my top bar or something

Knusper,

Yeah, I had it on Super+T at first, too, but I have the command/application/everything runner bound to Super+Esc and I open a lot of terminal windows throughout the day, so I re-bound it to Super+R just because it’s slightly easier to reach.

Not sure if this is obscure or not: I have F12 bound to cycle through the low- to high-contrast versions of my color scheme so I can keep working when the sun hits my shitty laptop screen.

I’ve mapped jk to escape because it’s rare and it’s separate fingers in home row, so it’s faster than e.g. jj.

The worst (for me) isnt when they don’t use signals at all, but when they use the signal right when they literally turn the steering wheel. This tells me they’ve never taken a minute to think what a turn signal is even actually for.

Lol I use ChatGPT to convert HR professionnel sounding emails into bullet points

Are people really using GPT to turn brief emails into paragraphs of waffle?

Not allowing users to access a service at all unless they accept cookies is often against GDPR. See: Can we use ‘cookie walls’?.

To quote:

In some circumstances, this approach is inappropriate; for example, where the user or subscriber has no genuine choice but to sign up. This is because the UK GDPR says that consent must be freely given.

If your use of a cookie wall is intended to require, or influence, users to agree to their personal data being used by you or any third parties as a condition of accessing your service, then it is unlikely that user consent is considered valid.

The key is that individuals are provided with a genuine free choice; consent should not be bundled up as a condition of the service unless it is necessary for that service.

These cookie banners often violate all sorts of GDPR rules even more explicitly than this example. For example did you know it’s not allowed to have pre-ticked boxes on cookie popups for non-essential cookies?
