The Wine development release 9.0-rc1 is now available.
This is the first release candidate for the upcoming Wine 9.0. It marks the beginning of the yearly code freeze period. Please give this release a good testing and report any issue that you find, to help us make the final 9.0 as good as possible.
What’s new in this release:
Bundled vkd3d upgraded to version 1.10.
Support for DH encryption keys with a recent GnuTLS.
Really looking forward to this release! Good stuff, another (minor) possible improvement for wine would be native pipewire support. But this is definitely more interesting
My guess is that somebody has some important “Windows” application that they need to run that is calling into Cygwin. That means that the proper way to run it on Linux is almost certainly just to port it from Cygwin to Linux native. How do you do this though if somebody else wrote the code?
#55856 cygwin hangs during installation at libzstd1-1.5.5-1
This bug report must mean that someone, somewhere, for some reason was running cygwin under wine and cared enough about that that they would create a bug report when it failed…
