CapitalismsRefugee, in What are some of the things you say / think to yourself when going through a hard time or dealing with uncertainty to help yourself along?

These were the words I used when discussing an upcoming potential termination,

“But the person I’ll be on the other side of [this crisis of maybe termination] will be no more absolutely or permanently diminished than the one I became after any other of the subjectively substantial life-changing crises.”

I’ve lived through some pretty painful shit. I feel quite angry about the misery I consider my life to currently be, but I still choose to live. With these words I was explaining that this “disaster” couldn’t be any more miserable than the sundry other miseries I’ve learned to live with. The consequences of this “crisis” may absolutely be something I will hate deeply and bitterly, but I doubt it’s going to be the straw that gets me to break this camel’s back.

fratermus, in Is it worth to read Star Wars novels?
@fratermus@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

99% Invisible had a mini-episode about movie novelizations. I think the Star Wars novelizations were mentioned in it, and the whole thing was rather interesting. Particularly where the author has limited info and has to guess about what might happen in the movie.

Haldum96, in What series did you rewatch most often?

I’ve seen the first 3 seasons of Community at least 6 times. The whole series maybe 3 times.

sarcasticsunrise, in What happened to the previous meme content/posters?

Duckef, in What's a big tech product that you actually find useful?

Google Chrome cast dongle, I try to avoid Google products but this one for the kids has saved me on rain days countless times.

Just Because I didn’t see it mentioned:

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly and Tombstone

Hyperi0n, in In which game did you spend the most hours?

Minecraft easily. The game doesn’t record hours but if I were to guess it would be at least 10k hours.

Second most played game has to be Diablo 2. In Diablo 3; I have 350 hours on one character, 200 hours on another, 125 on another and various temp character that I play during seasons and delete probably another 400 hours there. With all that being said about Diablo 3. I’ve definitely put more hours into Diablo 2. I would guess at least 3000 hours for Diablo 2

Game with the most hours played on Steam is Town of Salem at 750 hours and then Grim Dawn at 360 hours.

Futurama, star trek: TNG, ds9, mash, the office

98codes, in What's with the corporate obsession with customer feedback?

I can tell you that at least for stuff I work on, every single comment entered into those little dialogs is read by a human that actually works in a meaningful role on the product.

Comments that curse and complain with no topic in mind are useless, and easily ignored. Take two seconds and tell them exactly what is bothering you and what you’d rather see, and things might actually get better.

Anyone that gives anyone in the service industry less than a 10 on those support/delivery surveys is a cop.

I usually check r/ModCoord and try to post some mandatory fuck u/spez.

CeruleanRuin, in I feel like /c/memes has taught us a valuable lesson today: Would it make sense to develop a feature to block a comm from our feed for a selectable unit of time (1 hour, 1 day, etc.)?
@CeruleanRuin@lemmy.one avatar

I feel like if you’re subbed to a meme community you ought to know what you’re in for. Memes are typically low effort both to make and to consume, which means there will be more of them created and upvoted in the same period of time as other posts. They will ALWAYS overwhelm other content. This is why many sufficiently large communities either split and create meme-only spaces contain them or limit them to specific days of the week.

On reddit I had a separate account for meme subs, because otherwise it was all I saw in my feed.
